The difference being is you think it when you see it but then post the opposite on a message board to be politically correct. I don't. We all know trophy wives are a real thing. How is stating an obvious fact incredibly ignorant and offensive? It isn't.

Jiri can defend himself just fine, but I am offended by your projection of misogyny onto others. It is extremely offensive to stereotype an entire segment of people on the basis of their appearance, lifestyle, or circumstances.

That is why an ugly toothless hockey player can get a gf/wife that if he wasn't that high profile athlete wouldn't get the time of day. Are all women like that? Absolutely not. But are a lot of the girls that end up hockey wives or gf likes that? Obviously.
|
How many is "a lot"?
I would be surprised if even a small fraction of NHL hockey wives fits your deplorable description, since I also tend to believe that the vast majority of people are by-and-large pretty similar in terms of what they value in a lifelong relationship.

If I had any clue how to upload a meme this post would be the one of grandpa Simpson entering and then exiting the Bordello when Bart is working the door...

Because I clearly said not all women are like that. But many hockey player wives are, or any sport for that matter. I even said I didn't care about it, that there was nothing wrong with an athlete or celebrity getting a woman out of their league in exchange for the type of lifestyle they can have. Look at Gene Simmons of Kiss. He is an ugly man. Yet he has slept with thousands of hot girls. His wife is a former Playboy model. She said in their tv show if he was not a rock star she would not have given him the time of day. Lots of wealthy people have partners out of their league. They get the hot wife, and some kids, and she gets a lavish lifestyle, financial security for her kids and herself, and her husband is gone or working most of the time. There is nothing sexist about this, this is a reality of society. If you really think an ugly athlete with a hot wife/gf would have still ended up with her if he had a normal middle class job you are just not admitting reality.

How do you define ugly?
My wife doesn't follow hockey and doesn't know who Brent Burns is but when she saw a photo of him - said he was hot.
But the bigger issue is garbage like this is why people think men suck.
Many men are trying to change that perception, and you are setting us back.

This is complete and total bs. So you are offended that some women marry strictly out of financial wants? Then I guess everything offends you. Some people are so fake on social media to try and look like they are some moral God. Women marrying men strictly out of social status is a fact of life. It happens. It happens a lot. If you want to be offended by that fact have at it.

I am setting us back because many women marry men because of social status and wealth and you find that offensive? Lol! Ok.

Sure, there are those who marry in large part because of their status, finance, or appearance. But you're painting a very broad stroke that essentially hockey player wives are gold diggers, which is why someone like Brent Burns would find someone, which is complete BS. It's a very bitter viewpoint. There are plenty who marry largely because they actually are in love with the person themselves, not just because they are a hockey player.
In a general sense, professional athletes get the upper hand over the regular joe because they are a well known individual who are one of the best in their craft in the whole entire world. It's easier for them to draw interest of romantic partners since they draw from a larger pool. But in the end, emotional bond is carrying the weight for the vast majority of these relationships that do end up being long lasting.

No, I am saying that there are many in any celebrity or high income brackets that marry for the social status and financial situation. If you don't agree, ok, but there is nothing sexist about that. As a matter of fact it is the same with famous women and young men that normally would not be interested. It isn't just a woman thing. It is people marrying or dating someone due to money and social status. It was never about women, Jiri turned it into the sexist thing for his own agenda.

You didn’t need any help making it a sexist thing by using terms like pick bunny and trophy wife

Ok, and Cher is cougar. I love how you totally ignored the fact I said it goes both ways to fit your agenda here. That would be like me saying you hate those who were victims of sexual molestation because you dislike Theo Fleury. What you are suggesting is just as ridiculous. There is nothing sexist at all about saying people sometimes are only attracted to others based on social status and wealth.

No I don’t, I am not a judgemental loser that concerns himself with other people’s relationships. I concentrate on my own relationship and thousands of other things that actually matter.

Some guy who has never been in the same room as an attractive person keeps telling people what attractive people are like, because he saw it in the movies, or something. He’s trying to keep the dream alive that if only he were rich, life would be different, and we’re all being very supportive.
I don’t know what you’re yikesing about I came back specifically for this joy ride.

Had to wonder the same thing. A billion dollar industry reduced to shambles, thousands of hockey players, support staff, maintenance people and others thrown out of work and people are upset because someone they never met may be offended by a silly term they may have been called? One really has to wonder...

Actually, this forum has done a really good job of targeting sexism as a means of being more inclusive. It’s no wonder at all that someone made a sexist statement and was immediately called out.
