It was close but he didn't give himself up. He was being tackled by McDougald (30) and Clowney (90) comes into finish off the tackle. Also Clowney is not leading with the helmet, he's diving to make a tackle, then theres accidental helmet to helmet contact. No ntent whatsoever.
Also in the Falcons clip, he's not giving himself up again, he is diving for the endzone and comes up short.
Watch bunch of Wilson runs from yesterday to see how a QB gives himself up.

But even if it's a 15 yard penalty, I don't think it really impacts the game much. Reminds of of 2 years back when Travis Kelce was absolutly killing the Titans in the first half. They target him with an intentional headshot on a first and goal to take him out of the game. Cost them 3 yards, and they got the guy that they couldn't defend out of the game. I guarantee that if teams faced something like 10 plays with one less defender on the field...there would be a lot less of these types of hits.

I think the NFL needs to start going the college route and ejecting players who endanger other players either intentionally or through reckless play. That's the only way they're going to eliminate this crap from the game. Would the 15-yard penalty made any difference? Probably not, but removing Clowney from the game definitely would have.

It probably will go that way eventually. 10 years ago, I suspect Carson Wentz stays in the game. He might not have played well, but I bet he tries to stay in there. If I'm not mistaken, it was the independent neurologist that wanted to have him looked at. So as that aspect of things has changed, I expect that the penalty for helmet hits will also become more severe.

If the Titans can get the same production out of Henry as they did last week, I think they have a shot against Baltimore but it's certainly not going to be easy.

Pretty clearly he's a runner on both... the refs just screwed the pooch the first time. I mean, are you kidding? He's diving for the freaking goal line. Of course he isn't giving himself up there - he's trying to score, damn the torpedoes. That's even clearer than the one from yesterday.

Crazy that their last loss was to the Browns way back in September. Clearly due for a let down game.

So as far as what the #### hires goes, the Giants hiring Joe Judge as their coach is something. Of note, I now know Joe Judge was the Patriots WR's coach so there you go.

Anytime you can get the coach of the juggernaut Pats' WR corps, you gotta do it.

11 wins at Baylor gets you $60-70M, that's impressive.

Disappointed that Matt Rhule is goign to Caroline. Looks like he had things turned about at Baylor so a big loss for them. As a college football fan this makes me sad.

I wonder if the slow wheel of NCAA justice was finally making its way to Waco for all the stuff that happened under Briles? Maybe he knew his hands were going to be tied, and the current students - of which none were part of the previous regime's issues - were going to be punished.
Maximizing his value.

This hire on first glance looks extremely underwhelming but I recall the Rams being criticized for hiring McVey because at the time he was a relative unknown that was a WR coach before promoted to run Jay Gruden's offense so you just never know. However this one looks even less promising especially when you consider the overall lack of success of the Belichick coaching tree. I listen to NFL radio a lot and they always talk up the Mara family like the Giants are one of the better run organizations of the league but it you really look at them since their last SB win they have been a mess and one of the worst organizations in the NFL. They were actually trying to win this season and finished with less wins than the Dolphins despite playing in the worst division in football. Sucks to be a NY area football fan these days.

I saw someone (I think it was Drew Magary) say that no organization loves the smell of its own farts more than the Giants, and it's absolutely true. They love to hold themselves up as the model NFL organization when, outside of a couple of fluke years, they've been a pretty middling organization for the past 25-30 years. They've had only 12 winning seasons since 1990. Comparatively, within the division, the Eagles have had 19, the Cowboys have had 17, and the Redskins have had 10.

The Giants avoid scrutiny because the Jets are even more inept in the same market. Although without anyone really noticing the Jets actually finished 6-2 last year so they'll be an intriguing team to watch this offseason. It's kind of the story of a lot of NFL teams. The Bucs are pretty much as bad as the Browns or Raiders the last 10 years, but those two eat way more ####. Mockery is not equally distributed in the NFL unlike the TV deal money.
