Seems pretty clear that one of Monaghan or Gaudreau need to be traded. Seems clear that they just don’t got it, at least with this team. It’s not even just their playoff performances, every single year towards the end of the regular season their play falls off a cliff. Perhaps it’s mental but whatever it is, it is definitely real and it is definitely a major problem

Monahan wears an `A' but it doesn't seem like that's from his play and emotion on the ice. Perhaps it's his locker room demeanor, but we won't know.

The majority of the time, Monahan relies on Johnny to make the plays. He either goes on a scoring tear or is completely invisible. He's just so one dimensional, and has to be considered for a trade. In my opinion, Johnny needs a more experienced forward/veteran playing as his centre to hold him more accountable and to mentor him along.

Package 23 with Brodie/Kylington for a decent return. Or package him with James Neal for a cap/contract dump.

It sucks to lose like this but maybe it’s a stepping stone.

If they really feel this way they can win, but after line 1 for the Avs turned up the effort in game 2, the Flames became more concerned with containment than attack. By definition this means they are on their heels for half the game as the Avs play their top unit about that amount of time. That's not really giving yourself a chance to win, that mindset is more aligned with hoping to win. The D did start this game with the closing neutral zone gaps, and the forwards were attacking, but then they ceded space and the rest is history.

Don't disagree, if you only get 15. But the Flames had 37.

Shots were relatively even in periods 1, 2 and OT. Not so much in the 3rd when the Avs went on a storm. (Aided by two penalties.)

Didn't change the fact that the game was, until the end of 60 actually even. That would be a "good game". Sucks that they lost, for sure, but one doesn't throw out the baby with the bathwater "just because".

Unless the Flames make an epic comeback I'd show him the door for that unless you want an Oiler suck legacy to begin. He has had a couple of good trades but signing wise complete misses. Only 4 more years of Neal.
