Sorry Thor - I had to do some research, as your bolded statement surprised me... I had never heard of 'intersex infants' and googled it.

My research indicates the following:

1. the medical community sees about 1 'intersex' birth per 2,000 births
2. Iceland had 4,000 births last year

I am curious as to why Iceland has a month-long parliamentary hearing for something that literally effects ~2 people a year?

Iceland is known as a leader in LGBTQ rights, it is also one of the early nations who banned FGM.

We have had a number of Icelandic LGBTQ members who have shared their tearful discussions of how their parents chose a sex based on very few facts and that then was a huge harm to their upbringing.

Intersex children and their rights are painfully hard to listen to, and I am proud to be a part of the new legislation we are trying to pass that protects all surgeries and modifications on children unless medically necessary.

Didn't mean to be offensive, it was mainly uneducated curiosity on my part... I understand the good-natured work that you described and commend you for it... It just seemed very odd to me to spend that much time on something that impacts so few people.

No offense taken, we had a teenage boy who's CC as an infant went horribly wrong and he has been devastated by that. He can never have sex, for a voluntary procedure me thinks this is not ok.

But all the funny jokes here about looks and boys being CCed like an ear piercing is pretty rad.
