Cassie's right. He hit him square in the chest as the first point of contact. Head and knee were secondary/collateral. Can't float through the slot with you head in your skates like that.

The problem is determining intent, which is pretty much impossible. The League has taken a zero-tolerance approach to promote the safety of the players, which is the right thing to do. It sucks that accidental head shots like this one will occur, and non-malicious actions and players will be penalized, but this is what it will take to make the game as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone.

You lose your best player to a hit, clean or not, the homer glasses come on. I imagine there would be a similar response if a clean hit took out one of our stars.
Not saying they are right, but it's not shocking. Especially with American teams, in which the homerism is REALLY strong most of the time.
