I think it'll be a 6 year deal.

Flames may not want 7 so they can avoid having him and Monahan expire together. And I can't see Johnny agreeing to 8 without a serious overpayment because it makes him a UFA at 31 which is a tougher spot for a big contract.

And 6 is great. It's a long freakin time and takes him through most of his prime. Sure it only buys 1 UFA year but the fact that it's 5 RFA years instead of the traditional 4 kinda skews that. As does the fact that he's already 23.
