I currently pay $98/mth for 100/20 with a 500GB cap from Telus. What should I be calling them and asking for and how much will it save me?

Tell them Shaw are offering internet 150 for $50 a month for year one and $80 a month for year two with a 1TB cap. (It's not actually capped). If they Won't match it you'll switch.

I'm still getting some occasional lag on ps4 online. Does anyone know why? It's a hard wired connection.

I just talked to a Shaw rep at my building (we are only hooked up for Shaw).
Offering $75/1yr and $125/1yr after for:
- 150mbs / 1 tb
- Basic/Personal TV pack
- Movie bundle free for 6 months
- 1 to 3 tv boxes (doesn't affect the monthly cost, however it affects the cancellation charges; 1 box = $15/month remaining, 2 boxes =$20/month remaining, etc.)
It will be on the Gateway system, which I've never used.
I'm paying $107/month off contract for 30mbs and the same TV bundle (I have lots of promotion credits due to complaining about their messed up charges).

Possibly input lag? Do you have video game mode on your TV?

I'm just finishing year one of my contract with Telus, what penalty will there be to switch to Shaw?

Yes I do, didn't know that could effect the connection. I'll try that when I play next and see if it makes a difference.

It's $10 a month for the remainder of the contract. Plus you need to pay off the gift if you got one.

I'm going to blame this new internet deal for making wait times for service ridiculously long. My PVR is toast...or the signal is bad, they can't tell, but I won't have cable service for 11 days by time they actually get to my place to check.

Another day another Shaw outage in Kensington. 3rd one in a month. Really disappointed with Shaw. The service after I signed a contract totally went to the dogs.
There must be an SLA clause in that contract I signed because I seriously doubt I am getting 99% uptime.

There is a ton of road and utility work going on in Kensington this month. I would guess that is making things worse. You could probably complain and get a month free.

Ya I don't go to that well to many times, but this is ridiculous. Out for 5 hours from 2PM - 7PM yesterday. I can deal with 2AM - 7AM but mid day makes it extra brutal.
Plus I actually live in East Sunnyside so that is quite a ways from any construction. Just been a brutal month.

There's no SLA in the contract. You'll have to live with your 96%+ uptime.

Ok I am not teck savy and need a little help.
I have updated from internet 25 with a Motorola surfboard to wide open 150.
Previously i ran from the surfboard to a linksys router that i was using more like a switch feeding my xbox, a smart TV and a first generation airport express for wifi.
Now i have everything running through the hitron but my airport is not playing nice. The hitron is not in bridge mode and i have started to try an IP pass though but now the airport express is saying that I have a Double NAT.
short story ... HELP how should i be setting this up to optimize what I have.
I have the airport express in the spare room at the top of the house and the hitron is in the basement.

Is there a reason you are using such a complicated setup? Because the simplest solution is to use the Hitron and remove the linksys router and airport express if I understand your setup correctly.
The Hitron provides the wireless signal itself and will provide the wired connections to the tv and xbox,
The only reason to use another router is if you have a higher preforming one than the Hitron, but it doesn't sound like it if you are using a first generation airport express for wifi.

The only reason i had the previous "stuff" was because I wanted hard wire to the TV and the xbox
The only reason I was wanting to keep the airport express was for airplay and it gave the wifi upstairs which is where i spend most of the time.
The linksys is out of the picture now.

Well it is what it is. Although at some point contracts come due. So I guess live and learn, but seems short sighted from a long term customer perspective.

You sure it's an area issue not just your place? If it's an area issue they should know about it and give you some info. If it's just your place I'd get them to come out and have a look.

Go to the network tab in the Airport utility for the ap express and in the router field set it to "Off (Bridgemode)". This should make it function as a network extender.
