Seems fair for a guy named a vezina finalist 2 of the last 3 years.

That's less than we paid our Hiller/Ramo tandem last year wasn't it? 6 years 7 mil would be just fine with me. Ortio brought back at 950k

You know what? Pull the trigger, Brad.

This is a goalie we need, for a long time. This is a Vezina-calibre goalie who will be good for a long time. We can always buy him out in the last season if he falls off the face of the Earth, but lots of goalies are good into their late 30s.

I can deal with 7 x 7. This is our biggest positional weakness. Come on. Brad.

$7m was expected, can't blame Bishop for wanting term. Definitely wouldn't be good for the Flames to be stuck with that type of contract.

I want to see how Gillies looks with a healthy wheel before giving any goalie 7x7m. people are forgetting just how good Jon was before the injury.

May as well give him to Tampa in a trade involving Bishop.

If 7 x 7 is the ask then it's likely he could negotiated down a bit.

6 x 6 maybe? 6 x 6.5?

Asking for 7x7. Remember when Giordano wanted 9x8?

The term scares me big time for a goaltender. I'd rather try a bridge goalie and escalate to that level of a goalie when the team is ready to compete for a cup. Two-three years from now Bishop if signed today to that could turn into an anchor considering the volatility of goaltending.

That's only a bit more than MAF. That would be outstanding. Excelsior!

7 years is too much. 5 would be best. Don't know if CGY can float 7 a year.

7x7 is insane. I'd do 4x7 at best.

In terms of what the goalie can do, my top choice is Ben Bishop. Can he fit into the Flames salary cap structure? That's up for Treliving to decide. If so, and the acquisition cost is something Treliving can live with, then we pull the trigger on Bishop. He is the calibre of goalie we want. If the numbers work then you do it.

Bishop is an awesome goalie, and 7x7 is likely what he could/will get as a UFA. What scares me is what we have to give up to TB to trade for him. I don't think it is worth our 6OA + 49mil

You're kidding yourself if you think we'd be giving up 6 for Bish.

Anywho, I think we're getting Bob + 3 instead.

Do it. 7 years of an actual starter is 7 more years than we have projected currently.

Two recent Vezina nominations, recent trips to the eastern conference final and the Stanley cup final.

7x7 does seem like a huge pill to swallow, but it might very well be worth it.

Right now I'm more concerned with acquisition cost than his contract. The important thing is if he's throwing numbers around it means he's willing to waive
