idk I just hate the fact that our 4th line plus 3rd D pairing is like over 25% of our capspace. We have the guys internally to replace Stajan and Bouma and could save almost 4 million. That has to be worth something

Well... I'd wager he plays more than 9 games next year. How many 210+ pound forwards do we have? Jankowski has 5 months to put on 10 pounds, easy for a 22 year old that's 6'4.
Remember Chris Breen? Even he got a few games.

Stajan at 3.125 AAV playing in the NHL is worse than Raymond at 3.15 AAV playing in the AHL and Smid at 3.5 AAV almost never playing even when healthy?

MarkGio said Stajan has the worst contract on the team. Yeah, I think Stajan's contract is worse than Raymond's, since it has an extra year on it.
At least he's playing, but I think his contract damages the team just as much for the long term.

There is a significant difference, Stajan is overpaid by about a million but has a place on this team and is important to the room, the other 2 shouldn't even be in the league. The extra year does not make it worse, nothing makes it worse.

Stajan is still an NHL player. Smid and Raymond aren't anymore.

Both Raymond and Smid are expiring. Raymond also gives a 0.900K reduction to his salary by playing in the AHL.

Important to the locker room? Now you're just reaching. Stajan takes alot of nights off. He doesn't play like a 4th liner should, and since he's not skilled enough for the top 9, how does he have a place on this team.
You say Stajan is only 1 million overpaid? I say if Stajan was expiring this year he would not be offered another contract. A guy like Jooris, Grant, or any number of players would be eating his ice time instead

Perhaps a "I wish this player was not on the team" thread instead? The Stajan one will get derailed with Smid, Raymond, etc. We all know this

I heard mention on 960 that Janko is surprising in Stockton. Can anyone elaborate?

I heard he's pretty quiet on his feet. He'll sneak up behind people and boom, there he is.

I think they are referring to how quickly he has adapted to the pro game.
I think some people were expecting a 3rd line college player with loads of offensive zone starts and padded stats thanks to the powerplay to get exposed for the bust that he is.

I've been thinking this for a while, but this post sealed it. AI is officially funnier than people

Raymond and Smid expire next year. Curious why you think Smid wouldn't count for a similar reduction.
Try making a different point.

Guess it's about 7th for me. Definitely not a pressing issue, every team can afford one mediocre midrange contract.

I hope those aren't in any particular order, because goaltending should be #1, as in the biggest problem. At the very least it shouldn't be half way down the list.
Also, Bouma's contract should be replaced by Stajan's contract IMO.
