Who gets cut after the Colorado game? Seems like it will be a hard choice.

Poirer, Sieloff, Kanzig, Stevenson, Elson (though it sounded like he had a great game),

If/when they do the big AHL body dump:
-Carroll, Elson, Heard, Lomberg, Marcotte, Riley, Van Brabant, Kanzig, Sieloff, Stevenson, McDonald, Simpson, Schneider
That'd drop them from 58 to 45.

Don't think we will see any drops until Monday and then it will be closer to 40ish players left

What's the plan for Schneider? AHL or ECHL?

The Stockton Heat open camp sometime next week. My guess is the AHLs will stay with Calgary until Sunday/Monday. Maybe some JRs will be sent back this weekend as well.

I was expecting Garnet Hathaway to have made a little bit of noise already, there was so much hype about him being this year's "Josh Jooris"

I think this year's Josh Jooris is going to be on our blueline.

I think Ortio is going to be this years Jooris and he'll end up being the starter by Christmas

While I'd rather go with the Ramo/Ortio combo, I think Hiller gets crapped on too much around here for his play. Does he let in soft goals? Yes. And it's especially annoying when it's at the start of a game. But the guy posted a 2.36 GAA and .918 s%. That's pretty damn good and much better then I expected when he was signed. When a goalie posts anything above .920 s%, you could probably consider him having an elite or close to it type season.
Hiller's s% over his career is also very good
.927
.919
.918
.924
.910
.913
.911
.918
NHL total .917
Am I the only person who thinks he's pretty darn good? Have a look at his career stats.

Hiller has his own style and isn't going to razzle dazzle you with his athleticism. I find him to be a goalie who slowly gets better as the game goes on. Did he steal many games for us? Not as many as Kipper did, but more then he gets credit for. How many big stops did he make in the 3rd period or OT last season? He was a big reason why we made the playoffs last season.
Ignoring his name and just looking at his career stats, absolutely there will be a taker for him when it comes time to trade someone.

Josh Jooris will hopefully be this seasons Josh Jooris. I see him competing for a final roster spot just like the others. If he has a Sophmore slump and really takes a step back he is definitely replaceable. I wouldnt mind Shore getting his ice time anyways.

Can't wait to see tonight's roster against the Canucks. Anyone know if any of the players from last night's game are a possibility for tonight?

The trouble with finding this year's "Josh Jooris" is that what Josh Jooris did is very rare and likely doesn't happen even every few years nevermind every year

^^^What SP said.
I actually think Jooris and Colborne are both going to have big breakout years. Ferland likely as well.

I think that there are a few prospects who are fully capable of becoming this year's "Josh Jooris" - but this year it is an even tougher task.
Last year the Flames were riddled with injuries to start the season. Stajan, Backlund, then Colborne I think, as well as some others. They have also added Frolik this year.
I think Josh Jooris of last year would not make this team this year (and that is no slight against Jooris - I really like him and see him as an NHL'er now). The bar is just higher now, and that's not a bad thing at all.

Yup. Also let's not forget that Jooris didn't make the team last year either ... he was the last cut and went to Adirondack. Luckily for him, someone went down injured early (Jones? Not sure) and he was back after 2 AHL games.

And Jooris was both undrafted and unheralded until camp. It would be a "Jooris" only if Hathaway, Van Brabant or somebody like that did it.

+Bennett with his shoulder problem. Even then Jooris wasn't on opening night roster, it was I think a few days or a week into the regular season when someone went down and he got the call. So even last year it took quite a bit to beat out veterans for a roster spot. 4 centre injuries.
