Semantics i guess...because when the charges were dropped, it meant there was never a guilty verdict previously...as far as any records will show anyhow.

Either way the guy shouldn't be playing in the NFL IMO, but without a conviction it will be difficult for Goodell to suspend him much longer without a backlash from the PA.

The hostile rivalry between the New England Patriots and New York Jets took another bizarre turn on Tuesday, when the Jets filed a retaliatory tampering charge against the Patriots based on owner Robert Kraft's comments Monday about Darrelle Revis, league sources confirmed.

The Jets have filed a tampering charge against the Patriots for comments made about Darrelle Revis by Robert Kraft.

Kraft, speaking to reporters at the league meetings in Phoenix, commented for the first time on the star cornerback's departure. The remark that caught the Jets' attention was Kraft saying, "I speak as a fan of the New England Patriots, we wanted to keep him."

This apparently was a tit-for-tat move by the Jets, who were irked in January when the Patriots slapped them with a tampering charge.

That accusation stemmed from owner Woody Johnson, in an end-of-the-season news conference, telling reporters, "I'd love for Darrelle to come back."

Although Johnson's comments may have violated the league's anti-tampering rule, based on the letter of the law, the Jets felt it was a baseless charge because there was no malicious intent.

Does anyone really think the Jets weren't talking to Revis before his official release? And although Revis wasn't a FA until the last minute, the entire legal tampering period in the NFL is a joke and needs to be changed.

A much-deconstructed formation led to a New England Patriots touchdown drive in the playoffs. Next season, it will lead to a 5-yard penalty.

The NFL passed a rule Wednesday that makes it illegal for an offensive player wearing an eligible number -- between 1 and 49, or 80 to 89 -- to report as ineligible and line up outside the tackle box. Now, if a player is declared ineligible yet aligns outside the tackle, the offense will be penalized for illegal substitution.

In their playoff meeting, Ravens coach John Harbaugh objected to the Patriots' substitution pattern. Now, if a player is declared ineligible and then lines up outside the tackle, it will be a penalty.

The rule, proposed by the NFL's competition committee, resulted from a successful series of plays by the Patriots during a 35-31 playoff victory over Baltimore in January.

As a Ravens die hard......Good on the Pats. Even John Harbaugh wasn't mad at the Pats. He was mad the refs had no clue what was going on and didn't properly announce it.

Looks like the Falcons were fined $350, 000 and lose a 5th round draft pick for cheating (noise violations).
