out of curiosity, has it been confirmed he didn't do any pull ups or was it just zero to the tests standards. Ie he did a couple pull ups but they didn't count because the form was off.

I'm also in the camp where I don't think at his age it is a huge issue. He is far from being fully developed athlete.

Bennett and I are equally skilled at one thing. Good to know.

just finished moving so have been away from CP, so haven't commented on this, so pls forgive me....

Not sure how any amateur athlete with any kind of pro aspirations can't do a pullup, especially if him and his team (trainers/agent/etc) are prepped with what the combine tests are.

That being said, i don't think it would change my mind on him if he's available at #4. He's a kid who should be organically getting bigger/stronger with age, and is going to be training with NHL pro trainers, especially now that this info is likely going to follow him around for some time.

He's been able to achieve great hype due to his hockey achievements, seems there is great opportunity to potentially boost that even more should he be able to add more strength to his overall frame.

Maybe he intentionally failed to do a pull up, with hopes of decreasing draft position and sliding past the Oilers. I'd pretty much do anything to avoid getting drafted by those losers

I'd laugh if he admitted that 20+ years down the road when he retires. "Yeah, I failed to do a pull up, hoping the Oilers would pass up on me."

How could anyone say that? Bennett is exactly what they do need. He's fiery, competitive, outstanding defensively. He just shouldn't be in the NHL next season.

Draisaitl on the other hand, he's big but he doesn't play well defensively. You could argue that's exactly what the Oilers don't need. On a team full of players who don't know how to play defence with a coaching staff that doesn't know how to teach defence, how is Draisaitl going to become a complete player in that environment?

Edmonton can't wait for Bennett to develop in the OHL another year. Draisaitl has a better chance to hit the NHL ice than Bennett. Draisaitl also has size, and would actually compliment the top 6 (assuming they slot him behind RNH).

I don't know if another year in the OHL would necessarily be the reason why the Oilers pass on Bennett - they drafted Darnell Nurse and left him develop for another year in junior.

With that being said I still think if it came down to those two there is a slightly higher chance Edmonton takes Draisaitl.

For once, they actually sent down a player for another year of development... But that is in defense, they think they have the greatest defensive prospect system, so they were able to send Nurse down. However, at center position, they still need that top 6 center, and Draisaitl can fit that role. RNH is small, Draisaitl is the opposite. It might take him a while to get used to top 6 minutes (since they'll just throw him in the lineup), but I think he could get used to it and put up at least 30 points for them.

You're doing it wrong.

His physical game is constantly mentioned as a big part of his game.

There'll just be something else.

Chris "Minus a Billion" Butler, Brian "WHY U NO TRADE CAMMY?" Burke, Johnny "He'll never sign here" Gaudreau, Sam "Not Even One" Bennett.

There's allllllways something.

The highest total at this year's combine was 13.

You think that the Flames are planning for the #4 pick to play 2 more years of juniors and half a season in the AHL?

In 1984 , the year Roberts was drafted, Guy Lafluer was probably still enjoying smoking a cigarette or 2 during the intermission while popping in 30 goals.

Times have changed.

He had a good +/- in both his junior years on a so-so team.
