What a game by Johnny!! I know everyone keeps telling us to lower expectations but this kid is just that good. I think if he is developed properly he will be as good as we all hope.
Asked after the game what he needs for next year, Montgomery said, "Johnny Gaudreau," and then made it clear he meant he'd like "a clone" and not the real thing.
"Their top line was phenomenal tonight," Montgomery said. "They made high-end plays and there's a reason that those guys will end up playing at a higher level and making a lot of money."
"We knew in order to have success today we would have had to have played perfect hockey," Montgomery said. "Unfortunately, Boston College played perfect hockey."

In the games watching him he isn't just all offense, he comes back to help out defensively, plays the PK as well. He does read the play and rushes up ice early for a breakout and everytime he's on the ice opposing teams defense seem to hang back because of him.
I just hope Hartley lets him use his instincts and gives him some linemates instead of plugs.
I think after today, Johnny's mom is thinking "ok I agree, its totally fataing ######ed for him to play in the NCAA next year".
You're a quality poster here and I'm always happy when you contribute, but we as a community seriously need to stop posting about his mom. I know it's just a joke but it still feels a little disrespectful to Johnny and his family. It's the kind of thing that would make players not want to play in a media market.

The thread is about an article in the NY Times, devoted to what JG's mom thinks he should do with his hockey career. We as a community need to lighten up.
He's hardly making "Yo mama " jokes

Are you fataing serious? The guy was clearly kidding around. Take a step back and relax.
I think Johnny should listen to his mom - get a bit bigger and get that degree. Since he's not a big player, it makes no sense for him to rush into a career where he can get hurt and end it early. Hopefully, the Flames can sign him.

I think he should ignore you, sign and get the best trainers and facilities available!
Can't see how another year would benefit him. He's already apparently ahead in his studies, can finish his degree over several summers. He's mastered college hockey, time to move on.
Hayes may have showed some slick hands there, but it doesn't even need to be pointed out that Gaudreau is the straw that's stirred the drink all year long on that line. And as mentioned here already, some near the team have said that Arnold has the most translatable game (to the NHL level) of the three. Even if I had the choice, I'd still take Arnold/Gaudreau over Hayes.
He's now up to 5'8, 160lbs. It's not unreasonable to expect him to land somewhere between 165-170.
35g, 40a, 75p and +39 in 38 games this year. Leading basically every statistical category the NCAA tracks. Goals, assists, points, points-per-game, GWG, and plus/minus. A record-tying (Paul Kariya) 31 game point streak.
242 points in 176 games over the past 4 seasons, led all rookies in scoring in his Freshman year, 2 league MVP awards, 2 Beanpot championships, 2 tournament MVP awards, one National Championship (led the tournament in scoring) and a finalist for the Hobey Baker award as a Sophomore in 2013.
Gaudreau will likely take home the 2014 Hobey Baker in the next two weeks, an even greater accomplishment considering this is an award almost always won by players in their Senior season.
It's no exaggeration to suggest this kid has done it all.
Watching him play live at Flames dev camp last year, I was electrified every time he touched the puck, easily the best player on the ice from start to finish. He then led the World Juniors in scoring last year while taking home the Gold medal against the best young players in the game.
I am confident his game will translate just fine. For those who haven't seen him play live, you're in for a real treat, here.

Been said before, but he could easily get hurt in college hockey. The big difference would be the lack of a guaranteed multi million dollar contract to fall back on. Going pro would give him that, plus more than pay for him to finish whatever courses he has left in the summer.
Hard to argue there is any reason to go back for his senior year.
