To me this is no excuse. I have been behind to many people with snowy roofs and when they get to 50 - 60 the snow starts blowing off and causing a white out behind them.
One time I wound up on the other side of the road because of this and almost got into an accident. Take 30 seconds and make the roads safe for those around you.

The City's scam of over-assessing the value of houses so they can collect more tax revenue without officially raising the tax rate. My plastic McHouse in the burbs did not increase in value by $150k+ in 3 years. I went through the bogus process of contesting the value last year and provided compelling data that it was over valued by 100k and also showed how my whole community was overvalued and instead of reducing the assessment they paid me back by adding another $50k to 2014. Are there any neighbourhoods in Calgary that have increased in value over 30% since 2013. If I was a nervy motivated bugger I would go to the media over this. I think I will contest again despite the waste of time.

Property taxes are revenue neutral. If the average value in the city goes up property taxes remain the same as the milrate goes down. If your house increases in value relative to the rest of the houses in the city your taxes will go up. If your value relative to the rest of the city went down then your taxes go down. Once the revenue neutral adjustments are done then the tax increase is applied. For example my house increased in value 22k however its percent increase is less than the city average so my revenue neutral tax assessement dropped by 2% so if we have a 5% tax increase my taxes only increase by 3%
So it sucks your property is over valued but the city isnt getting anymore money overall the rest of us just get a discount.

The city and not repairing burnt out street lights, even when it's reported to 311 multiple times. I can't wait until LED street lights are commonplace then cities won't have this issue.

Yeah looking at my assessment for this year I gotta wonder as well, I really don't think my 70's townhome/condo has gone up nearly $45k in 3 years. But I can't be bothered to contest it.

Hyping the same hit song over and over and over and over again on all rock radio stations until it becomes unbearable. God's my witness, I love Dire Straits for the great music they've created over the years, but how many times can one listen to the "Walk of Life"? I literally can't stand this track anymore. Same with "Comfortably Numb".

Downtown bikers. The city goes to the effort of putting in all these bike lanes everywhere and the bikers don't use them when there is a little snow on the ground. Instead, they fringe into the already super congested automobile lane. Look, I appreciate that you want to be healthy/eco-conscious/whatever reason but if your bike isn't capable of riding through the bike lanes for the conditions, you probably shouldn't be biking. Do what us cars do and get the right tires for the conditions. Otherwise, take the bus.

Trying actually working in radio and hearing songs over and over and over and over again and having to sound excited about it. I worked as an announcer for about 10 years. I swore if I heard Money for Nothing one more time, there were going to be deaths.

Yeah, something tells me that if you pulled up to the DT window, or asked the waitress at the pub for a p'tinn, they'd stare at you with a confused look until you finally pronounced it properly - poo-teen.

That seems unreasonable unless you built a garage or basement or did some other work that is crazy!
So if your house was worth 300k it jumped to about roughly 385?
Mine went up about 8%.
