Haha this is crazy. Team wins a bunch of games in a row but "suck" or are "garbage" because some think they should be losing for a draft pick. Seems some posters have made the classic mistake of going full ######... you never go full ######!

So, now the Blow It Up Flames are ahead of the Something Special Oilers. I guess we need Lowe and MacTavish to teach us how to be winners.
Dammit, I hate Gene Principe.

This team is hot garbage plain and simple and now they are screwing themselves out of getting better.

That's nice, we can evaluate that next year. You're like the person that goes to a party and makes a complete a$$ out of yourself.
Seriously I feel sorry for you and some of the other posters that have slid so far into the whole draft thing that you can't take a little bit of joy out of watching these guys play and work hard and have a little success to build on.
Listening to the pouty whiny we should be basically intentional losing crowd is like chewing tinfoil, its painful and stupid.
Seriously stop whining in the game thread, and go whine in the 30 thread where people can choose not to visit and listen to your insanity.
Erik, your really driving your reputation on this board 6 feet into a pile of fresh fertilizer with your unibomber like rantings.

Brodie was unreal in tonight game. The line of Baertschi-Backlund-Cammi was also awesome. Also Cundari looks pretty good. I wasn't cheering for a win but seeing a win in this fashion is hard not to like.

What did he say? I turned it off as he was showing off the RNH sign he drew with his own crayons.

I've said that while hall racks up the points against us, while hopkins racks up the points against us, while yakupov racks up the points against us... and I'll say that while Mackinnon racks up the points against us too.

I must re-iterate: One player does not make a team a playoff team. Getting that "special" player in the draft this year would not guarantee that the Flames would be so much better sooner than later. There are plenty of great individual players on terrible teams. There are many factors that go into making a successful team, and talent is only one of them. I would take this group of players we have seen with 1 or 2 more high skill players any day of the week over the Colorados and Edmontons of the league.
Effort, work ethic, and consistent team play trump high end draft picks any day of the week. Want proof? Watch the Oilers for a while.

There is such a thing as middle ground.
This team pissed this season away weeks ago. I love watching the Flames win, and its even more exciting because this isnt your grandpa's Calgary Flames, its a whole new group and thats awesome.
That said, how long have you people been Flames fans? This is exactly what the Flames have been doing for the last 15+ years!
They dont have the talent to be good.
Mediocrity goes unrewarded and just breeds more mediocrity. See: Calgary Flames Franchise History from 1996-Present.
But, in this, the circus season they truly sucked and had the opportunity to draft in the top 5 for the first time in franchise history and maybe prevent another couple decades of mediocrity and hoping to sneak into 8th.
I've seen this all before.

Remember when the Oilers had the first overall pick three years in a row and are still behind us in a rebuild.
Good times.
