Duchene has way more natural talent and skill, and has been absolutely fantastic this season. I take Duchene all day every day.

How about Iggy signs for a fair value? If he takes a 4-5M contract that makes a huge difference in payroll.

He can't. RFA for another 2 years.

That will happen too but i'm pretty sure camel larry is toast. Unless he totally turns this season around.

Deal was likley structured to improve the chance that Colorado does not match. A 5yr deal at $5m would be a no brainer for Colorado. Feaster takes the risk that he can extend versus Colorada matching a paying $6.5 to just lose him in 2 years (which they may given the animosity of the current situation).

Remember the Flames giving up Teravainen to recoup some picks? Imagine that, but for an entire year.

I'm as big of a Feaster critic as they come - no point in submitting an offer sheet at market or fair value. You have to go over the top so the other team doesn't match.
If he fails to sign him long term at a fair amount, that's when he's dropped the ball.

Cammaleri and Stajan are the obvious buy outs. Bouwmeester is the obvious trade target.
Not worried about it.

On the draft picks, I agree. If we chose a Ryan O'Reilly with our first round pick, people would be estatic.
It's the salary cost that really makes things interesting.

And with regards to when we might find out, my thinking is that if the Avs are not going to match they will, of course, wait until the final hour to make that announcement. But if they are going to match, I would guess they do so fairly quickly. They are going to be committed to keeping O'Reilly on the team for at least the next full year so they might as well get him on the roster ASAP and also waiting until the last minute and then matching might (assumption on my part) further the bad blood between O'Reilly and the organization.

I agree. If this goes down there is going to be more trades from the flames. Either Cammi or Stempniak are going to have to go. Flames did not do this just to be a 9th -10 th team.

No big deal about salary cost. If the Flames keep Iginla his salary will be lower. Kipper is most likely off the books. A ton of other players are off the books etc.

Have not enough GMs been made an example of relying on this mentality? You're failing to see our schedule get much harder. If this turns into a top five pick, this will be remember by Flames fans for decades. We've never had a top 5 pick.

Doesn't make sense to trade anyone good if we don't have our 1st anymore.
They're going for it.
and I hate them for it.

Smells like the Phil Kessel trade. We'll finish in the bottom 5, win the lottery then the Avs will get to take Drouin or Barkiv. Not a fan of this at all.
