All of a sudden, between Johnson, Romero, Morrow and Beurhle, there are two question marks in Romero and Morrow. I'm hoping they can move Happ into the bullpen and deal JPA for a solid #2 starter.

Good call, another guy who would be solid at the end of a rotation.

Incoming players were worth 12.2 WAR last year. Outgoing players were worth 1.6 WAR at MLB level.

Wow, leave the house for a few hours and I miss a blockbuster. Kind of crazy considering it's still early yet, AA has time for more moves. Great for Jays fans, nice to see Bautista pumped about the moves.
Saw this comment on MLBTR, I laughed:

With the move to Buffalo this might actually make sense for TDA because of the injury, maybe bring him up mid season

I still think they move JP now, and could get some value for him with the slim catchers market.
But it needs to be repeated a 1000x LOL at it being Mathis.

I meant in a trade ya, as a 1B JPA would be the worst in the league, 1b league average is something around .280/350/450
JP is far below that

EE can play first base, so even if they can just get a big bat who can maybe spell someone at 1B it could help

I guess Jays fans can't complain about the team owner not willing to spend money. The projected payroll may go as high as 120 million and with additional signings of their current 3 roster players, it may reach 150 million. Jose Reyes's salary is an eye opener:
Season
Salary
2010
$9,000,000
2011
$11,000,000
2012
$10,000,000
2013
$10,000,000
2014
$16,000,000
2015
$22,000,000
2016
$22,000,000
2017
$22,000,000

The only thing I can think of here for the Marlins is they are going to trade for A-Rod and this is how they can afford it, by shedding tons of salary. Regardless pretty shocking trade for the Jays, good for them.

At this point, if the rest of your team is so crappy, why are they even considering trading for A-Rod and furthermore, taking on his salary. Marlins make no sense.

Just going off of comments on Twitter about Buerhle being very picky about teams that he would be willing to play for and some comments he made mentioned in this thread about TO in the past.
Did seem like he only wanted to stay in Midwest when he was a FA and went to Florida so may be more talk than actual action.

To try and build your marketing around cheering on the hometown boy and his "chase" of the HR record?
Doesn't make much sense to me but nothing the Marlins do makes much sense.

A-Rod is from Miami so there is that. And with less money in salary and maybe a few more people in seats, financially it might be better for Loria, who's a POS anyways and doesn't care about the team. Maybe they hope he'll rebound with no pressure at all on him (like AJ Burnett?). Honestly this move probably wouldn't get approved in a video game, so I just don't understand it at all from Miami's side....there just has to be more to this I think.

Ahhh i see, thanks, well that's not good. Still early and it seems as though the Jays have a lot of bargaining chips to play with including Buehrle, although if he doesn't want to be there it lowers his value in a trade somewhat.

Has the Jays trade been approved and announced as official yet? If not that would make the other rumor just that.
