I'm going to assume that you are basing this statement on the list provided by devo22 above as surely you don't think Brodie, Bouma, and to a lesser extent Nemisz (all '08 draftees) have no chance with the Flames.

I would also qualify devo22's list as Flames prospects that are not presently playing with the Heat. I would concur that time is not on the side of '08 and '09 listed prospects. It is the nature of the hockey business that some players only get a brief opportunity to make their mark and injury (Wahl) or an extended transition period to adjust to the pro game (Howse, Martin, Cameron) will leave you on the outside looking in when it comes time for the second contract.

exactly, that was the intention ... the Heat are extremely well covered by guys like Pierre and Freeway, I thought I'd make a list of the other guys.

Of the guys listed from 08 and 09, I agree that time is running out for a few of them. Wahl is probably done, although I could see the Flames give him a second contract if he's earning it ... but that'll be hard in the ECHL. Cameron should be done with the Flames, Larson won't get a contract and at this point, I can't see Patterson get a second contract. Martin, Howse and Ortio have another year on contract after this one.

BC played UMass today, winning 3-2. Arnold opened the scoring for BC, and Gaudreau got an assist on the tying goal.

Sieloff had an assist on Windsor's lone goal in a 2-1 shootout loss against Belleville.

After Ortio's 3 year contract runs out goalies have an extra year of waiver protection so he may be re-signed if he continues to show progress.

Just a reminder that Ryan Culkin is playing for team QMJHL tonight in the Subway Super Series.

Will be the first time many Flames fans will get to see him play.

Game starts at 5pm MT on Sportsnet. Culkin will be wearing #7 according to the Super Series webie.

Also a a few 2013 eligible draft players will be plaing such as Mackinnon, Fucale, and Drouin will be playing for QMJHL,

On Granlund, he didn't really start scoring until mid-November last season either. After that, it was close to point per game, if I recall correctly. As far as I can tell he's matured from last season in his overall game and I'm sure his numbers are better than he had this time last year as well.

I don't know where he is as an NHL prospect. Could be a long shot. Just saying that the numbers don't really tell us too much. Of course it's always better to have great numbers, but prospects don't develop on a straight upward curve, so you can't read too much into short-term trends.

Ortio has been great on a somewhat troubled team who lost a lot of talent and whose head coach just suddenly left for the KHL in the summer (where he now coaches Rämö's Omsk).

Yea, I meant from devo's list. If you aren't on the Heat or a starting goalie overseas by now... you've sort of lost your foothold with the organization.

not that it really matters in this thread, but Drouin won't play tonight because of injury.

Looking forward to how Culkin is doing.

That's great. Four Flames prospects in Hockey East, and they're all top performers.

I wonder what it would take to get some local coverage of the PC vs BC games that are coming up in December?

Amidst the boring political talk, Brossoit has another first star performance as the Oil Kings hand the top team in the CHL their second regulation loss of the season (and first loss at home).

Brossoit may have finally found his game again. 2 strong games so far to start November.

fantastic result for Brossoit - limiting the best offensive team in the whole league (84 goals in 20 games) to a single goal is darn impressive.

Coda Gordon has 2 assists so far tonight (about 10:00 left in the game).

I'm intrigued by Coda Gordon. It seems he has no problem getting on the score sheet, and the major knock against him was his skating, which, according to Weisbrod, is the easiest thing to fix in a young player.

yeah, me too. He seems to have this offensive instinct that you just can't teach ... I get the feeling that all the flaws that made him slide all the way to the 6th round can be fixed.

I really like Gordon. He would have been a late 2nd (50-60) for me. He's got incredible scoring talent and has amazing ceiling. I think I mentioned this earlier, but I see a lot of Moss in him. And for a 6th, that's incredible value.
