That was pretty scary to see Bautista go down like that on a high pitch to his hands/head, thank goodness he is alright.

I was watching MLB Gameday.
So WTF was that in the 9th inning. In the mini-highlight thing, it looked like bases loaded, grounder to 3rd, ball was bobbled so an error, run scored and bases still loaded. Then Bautista doesn't notice Escobar still on 3rd and takes off, suddenly sees him, hits the brakes, tried to return to 2nd which draws a throw from the pitcher, the throw is bad, Bautista is safe AND Escobar scores!?
Looked very strange.

According to Jays Twitter feed Woodward outrighted and Snider optioned to AAA. Hopefully Snider figures it out, starting to get nervous about him.

Looks like Snider will need to learn how to hit the other way in AAA rather than the bigs, interested to see who comes up. I kind of like how Farrell is not going to run a daycare, with Cecil and now Snider jettisoned.

They have already declined the '14 option yes, but the '12 and '13 seasons are still to be determined, not just the 2013. But from the way it's looking, it won't be a tough decision for the jays if the injuries continue to be a dark cloud over hill's career.
anyway, im done with your plebeian attempts at discourse.

I must have done a drive-by because I didn't realize you were the one that posted the original thought.
Anyway, I'm not here to start anything so cool your jets.
I hope Aaron Hill is given the chance, and takes it, to become fully healthy and hopefully get his stroke back.

That is exactly what happened. I had to rewind and watch it again. Love the aggressiveness of Bautista, but that is the second boneheaded baserunning gaffe in the last week by him. I guess that is nitpicking though.

How do the Jays have room for position players to be going down?

Not totally sure what you mean.... however the speculation is David Cooper and Davis are getting recalled tomorrow.
As for Snider, I wish they give him more time at the MLB level.
Not sure sending him down will do anything.... he has always hit well at the AAA level.

Snider just needs to get hits to get out of his funk. Good move. He'll be back soon, and he'll be more confident at the dish.

Excited to see Cooper up. Kind of surprised that he's doing so well, he was bordering on bust territory.

That clears it up, what I meant is that Hill and Davis were already on the DL, and the pen already has 8 arms. Cooper coming up to play DH against righties?

Reyes' last start:
Yeesh. Didn't exactly make Texas work the count to serve up meatballs.

Cooper works the count for a debut walk.
Would've been nice to see him get a start at 1b for his debut though.

I love when the Jays beat the Yanks. I didn't see the entire game, but what I did see had a few strange moments.............EE making a terrible decision and throwing the ball away instead of just tagging 3rd and getting the easy out; the Jays getting out of a bases loaded, none out situation; Robertson throwing the ball away at 2nd base trying to pick off Bautista and letting Davis score, etc.......
Love seeing Davis' speed on base......3 SBs tonight. Bautista with another HR, another solid game. Best moment I thought was his smart slide to beat the throw to home. Very smart.
Hope they keep it up, nothing like beating the Yanks.

I'm surprised by how well Rivera has been seeing the ball lately.

Lawrie May Be Jays Ready
Quote:
What should the Jays do with Lawrie? Promote him this month or next?
This week or next?
“Lawrie can run, has a quick bat and can lose a ball in a hurry, I can see the Schmidt comparison a little,” said the scout. “He’s a little bit of a front-foot hitter, so are others. The thing is, he isn’t afraid of anything.
“From what I have seen, from what everyone says about the guy, Brett Lawrie does not fit the historical developmental curve.”
|
Quote:
A concern the Jays have about Lawrie is his fielding. He may be feasting off some arms hanging on, but a ground ball at Vegas should be the same as a ground ball at the Rogers Centre or Connorvale Park in Etobicoke. He has six clanks to date.
“You telling me Edwin Encarnacion doesn’t make errors?” countered the scout. “I saw the game in New York Friday, first, (Encarnacion) didn’t catch a line drive and then threw wild to second. It could have been two errors on the same play.”
With the Team Canada Junior National Team, Lawrie hit five homers in a doubleheader in 2007 on five 90 mph plus fastballs, leading an old-time scout to joke: “I’ve got him rated as Babe Ruth, but I might be a little light.”
