The team has a special place in the area though. It would be better for it to stay.

Very incorrect.
The SD's gutted and being redone right now.
That team ain't moving. Just a moron councillor in Toronto showing the world how out of touch he is. There are a few others in play before NO such as SD and Buf

The Saints have a 15 year lease with the State of Louisiana, and a $320 million dollar renovation of the Superdome. They aren't going anywhere.

I could see Toronto being in play for the Vikes.

I thought the Bills would have the biggest chance of moving to TO. They already have a loyal following in the area.

It may well be an ownership ploy. I wouldn't discount anything during the lockout.

Why is SD in trouble? Are they likely to move? Ive been to that stadium it seems well kept and the fans are passionate... im a little confused as to why they are being mentioned with the Bills...

SD has been threatening to move unless they get a new stadium.
It seems any team that wants a stadium (Charges, Vikings, Raiders (yes, again)) are threatening to go to LA unless their demands are met.

Poor Al Davis. All the guy wants is a new stadium before he dies.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that Al might own Invesco Field.

in SD in particular they have been trying for a long time. The stadium itself is far to big and away from the field, it's the old multipurpose 'murph'. You can't see much other than helmets if you are in the bottom 10 rows because you are a mile from the field.
And the stadium is in the middle of the biggest parking lot I have seen. No atmosphere, no restaurants and bad traffic. The stadium is in the middle of nowhere and nothing to do other than the game once you get there. Ironically enough their baseball stadium is the exact opposite of the above.

I saw Cubs/Padres game at Jack Murphy once ( http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...99205220.shtml - The play in the top of the 7th to get Mark Grace at the plate was great. And I was shocked that Benito Santiago was boo-ed mercilously). It seemed like a good place to catch a game at that time.

Football stadiums are supposed to be in the middle of huge parking lots. That is why tailgating was invented.

Listening to some "insiders" the last couple days, and they feel that football will not be played until November.
Dumb dumb dumb.

Sounds like they were debating what Chris Collinsworth was saying. His point was that if these legal proceedings don't start issuing some rulings (the temporary stay was supposed to be ruled on over a week ago but the wait continues) that neither side is going to do any real negotiating until the first week of the season and games start being lost.
Also speculation that there may be a pretty large penalty levied against the NFL by Doty due to the TV money issue.

Here is an article describing Collinsworth's though process when he came up with the November deadline.

I have been trying to ignore this whole thing. Partly hoping that they just get it done, and also because I hate it when sports gets political. I boycotted MLB for 14 years because of the strike in 1994. I really don't want to be mad at the sport I love.

So the St.Louis court agreed to extend the stay until the appeal decision can be released. That is good for the owners.bad for the players. In addition, the language in that decision was very strongly in favour of the owners, and hints that the injunction against the owners will be overturned, which means the owners are well within their rights to lock the players out.
However, Judge Doty has not issued a final ruling on damages with regards to the TV contract the NFL negotiated. He already has issued his decision that the money was intended to allow a lockout and thus harm the players and is illegal. He just hasn't said how big the penalty is going to be and he hasn't even mentioned when he will issue that ruling. Rumour is that he is waiting to see the result of the appeal in the St.Louis Appeals court. If that ruling allows the lockout to continue, then it will be a big ruling in the players favour. If the Appeals Court forces the lockout to end (that is confirms the earlier ruling) and the league year begins then Judge Doty's penalty will be much lower.
Simply put, the litigation is far from over but at least court ordered mediation is forcing the 2 sides to talk.

Me too, aside from the draft I'm trying to pretend NFL doesn't exist until its back, it just makes me too mad. I was doing good until last night when, due to lack of hockey, I went to NFL Network for the first time in months and watched 3 America's Game features back-to-back-to-back. Goddamn, I forgot how good those are. Now I really miss football, me sad.
