Oh that clears things up, Westgarth said the were sent out there to make something happen. No ####, isn't every line sent out to "make something happen".

Yeah, I don't think Westgarth was put out there to score a hat trick.

Who cares what the Americans think, they should be more embarrassed to call two basketball players slapping each other a "fight".

All this talk about Westgarth hurting the Sedins is just so dumb.
FACT 1: Westgarth didn't throw a single punch at Bieksa
FACT 2: Westgarth let Bieksa go when it was clear he didn't want to fight
So if Westgarth doesn't "Jump" Bieksa, a noted tough guy and fighter, why would he do it to a Sedin?
And on the other hand, you have Sestito sent out purposely to punch and attack an unwilling combatant in Nolan after a clean hit (a poor man's Bertuzzi/Moore).
I suppose I can see why the Canucks thought that Westgarth and McGrattan WOULD have beaten the Sedins heads in because THAT IS WHAT THE CANUCKS DO, beat unwilling combatants, but, that's not what the Westgarth and McGrattan do, and it's not what the Calgary Flames do.

I am so happy to have Torts on this side of the league.
That game was gold. Loved it.
Who'd have thought the coaches would elevate a boring game like that?

There's a very large gulf between attacking them and doing nothing. There are a lot of ways the Sedins could've gotten roughed up that don't involve fighting. Bottom line is you don't send out your 1st line where your center has a rib injury and your winger is in his first game back from a broken jaw up against a 4th line who is out there to set a tone and fire up their team.
And I suppose Dave Tippett must be a dirty coach as well as he seems to agree with Tortorella's reticence to send out his skill players against that line:

Yeah it's pretty clear that you don't need to do much to "rough up" a Sedin. Apparently a little shove can end the greatest Ironman streak in the league.
OH, what was wrong with your 2nd line? or the 3rd line?
Torts wanted a fight, he got it, stop playing the victim card.
Also, the pre-emptive strike wasn't Hartley's line up, it was the Canucks calling up Lain and all the shenanigans they got up to on the Cali road trip. Hartley was responding to the new and improved tough Canucks.

That's fine. From the video not much happened, it looked like he was watching the fireworks for a bit.
If he said anything it couldn't have been that bad, none of the Flames around him seemed to react too much.

What a day for Bettman. First he has to stare down one lunatic over his inability to act rationally in the midst of a game. Following that, Melnyk rolls in with Mulder and Scully set to go all Grassy Knoll in his office. Almost makes you feel sorry for him.

Don't the Canucks have a 2nd or a 3rd line?
In most circumstances, coaches jump at the chance to have a line mis-match.
Poor little victims.

I am guessing Bieksa came over to see what the hell was going on. Don't think he was really doing too much there.

Then why lie about being shopped in by Shane O'Brien?
