But Eberle is still a better on ice asset than Frolik.

I'm guessing Todd McLellan doesn't consider Eberle much of an on-ice asset.

To call Eberle a better on-ice asset than Frolik is frighteningly obtuse.
Frolik scored 17 goals to Eberle's 20 last year, but guess whose shooting percentage was lower? Frolik's.
Frolik had one of the highest relative Corsi ratings in the NHL. Eberle's was the third-lowest of his career.
Eberle's PDO was above 100 last year for the first time in three years... he got lucky and still declined. Frolik's was 99.7... slightly unlucky, but he still dominated possession-wise, even with offensive zone starts below 40%. Eberle's were above 55%.
And, they're just two years apart in age.
Frolik is a better player than Eberle in pretty much every category.

Eberle has 38 more goals in 150 fewer NHL games so it's not frighteningly obtuse to suggest he is a more accomplished scorer. Doesnt mean I'd trade Frolik for him.

Well I don't really care about PDO and fancy stats. I think Eberle is a more impactful player than Frolik. I apoligize for taking the thread off topic and let's not clog up the Trade Rumours thread any more on this.

Nobody said he wasn't an accomplished scorer.
Just that he's basically terrible at everything else related to hockey. Shelter him and use him wisely, and Eberle is a good asset. Put him in a bad situation and he better score to account for the chances and momentum he'll cost your team. At least you can put Frolik out whenever and he'll help your team at both ends.

Well that's like saying 'I don't care about scandals or fancy recordings, I think Republicans are more "impactful" than Democrats'.
PDO and fancy stats matter, and they matter a lot. You can't just ignore them, because they're real.

Frolik is the ultimate utility player. I love those types. We always seemed lucky to have those types back in the day. Otto and Ranheim come to mind.

Ya know Scorpion.. I'm pleasantly surprised that we agree on this topic.
Frolik is a stud at what he does,

I think if you asked 29 GM's which of the two they'd want in their team at current age/contract, I'd take a guess Frolik would have more votes. He will make a team better, whereas I don't think Eberle does.

AINEC?
My best guess is And It Ain't Even Close.
But then it would be AIAEC, so I'm not sure.
You young kids and your internet lingo, I'm getting too old for this.
Edit - Oh, wait, And It's NOT Even Close!

But seriously, cut it out with the hashtags. We still speak in a normal conversational style on this board, not the broken pseudo language known as Twitter-speak. I refuse to let this site succumb to the awful linguistic styles of sites like Twitter. Full sentences and complete thoughts are always going to be better for discussion.
End old man rant.

The Oilers can't find a taker for Eberle... they can't find someone to just take him. To suggest that he has more value than Frolik is laughable.

I don't think Eberle is as bad as some fans here make him out to be but when he's not scoring he's a liability or at best a non-factor and that's why the Oilers want to get rid of him. Frolik is such a useful player as he can be deployed in pretty well any situation and help your team. Eberle isn't nearly as good of an overall player. Not even close.
