Francis had some pretty good stretches last season. At the beginning of the season, I thought there was a good chance he’d get a rotation spot at some point. He seems to have a little less on his fastball than last season but his splitter looks like a heck of a weapon.

If he can be a 5th starter who can give the team 5+ innings with 3 ER or less, that is huge. If he is more, that is monumental.

Having a solidified 5th starter would allow them to spend small on bargain bin depth options rather than the amount a solid 5th start would command, that is another bunch they can spend on getting two bats. They’ll also have Jake Bloss (who until yesterday was pitching well for the Bisons) for pitching depth as well.

They can get potentially get Manoah back in late July/August 2025. Tiedemann is likely a total lost cause for next season but some folks think Trey Yesavage could be an option late 2025.

Other than Vlad becoming Vlad, Francis’ step forward is probably the best possible development of this pretty rough season.

Jesus, what a month long run for Francis. Just a crazy, historically run over the last 4 or 5 starts. He's not doing anything fancy other than hitting his spots. Beautiful pitching.

15-0 with 23 hits. Not too shabby Jays. Not to shabby.

If Vladdy is back for real, and with all these decent looking young players kicking around, if the Jays can lure in another big bat this off season, they might get this train back on the playoff track in 2025.

That'll show the Twins for last October. Berrios goes 6 innings not 3 in Minneapolis and look what happens...

Quite the lineup they have for today's game. According to Sportsnet stats they have a combined 487 games played. It's the fewest in club history and fewest by any club since the 72 cubs(386)

Haha quite the lineup is right. Talk about a total punt for today's game. Although, I guess stranger things have happened.

While I am sure it was the plan going into the weekend, rolling that out the day after a 15-0 win can be taken (especially with the baseball "code") the wrong way.

I think Rodriguez is maxed out for innings right now and is running on fumes.

Buck pronounces Ober as if he is Irish - Bailey O’Burr.

Bah. Green lays an egg today. Thought the baby Jays might pull it off.

Bassitt sure likes to give up runs in the first inning

Bassitt and giving up a ton of runs in the first. Almost as iconic as Berrios and giving up homeruns.
