Filip Gustavsson looks really good too.

I would be pretty upset if we pass on a Nathian Bastian type for a goalie.

We will pick the worst of the top 2 goalies available too (McDonald over Demko)

Right, because that's already proven to be factual.

With that being said, I think TB wouldn't do this trade without us adding. I'd add Wotherspoon but not sure if that would get the deal done.

You would have to add a lot. Drouin wanted out because he was not getting ice time. He is getting it in spades now in the playoffs and is showing why he was drafted so high. He has helped show the Lightning don't need Stamkos to get far in the playoffs and he comes cheap contract wise for them right now. I don't think Yzerman ever even entertained trading him, he probably pulled Cooper into his office and made it clear that when Drouin came back up to give him plenty of opportunity. I think both sides have mended the fence, he will stay, they will let Stamkos walk because cap wise it makes too much sense.

His agent is going to be hell to deal with on his contract renewal. His agent is the guy that was very pursuing of a trade. Not a doubt in my mind he is going to be hell come contact time as well.

Interesting. The Flames site has Julien Gauthier as one of their draft targets. Could indicate what a few of us has suspected for a while, that Gauthier would be high on their list. Pure goal scoring RW with speed and size. Yup.
http://flames.nhl.com/club/m_news.htm?id=883573
Could be a great target in a trade down scenario.

They've been doing a whole slew of them the past week, I'd imagine they'll have 30+ of those articles by the time the draft rolls around on the site.

I could live with Gauthier if we traded down, based on what I've read.
I've never seen him play, but are there style comparisons to ovechkin? That size and weight coupled with a goal scoring mentality makes me think ovi.
Obviously not ovi level skill though.

I'm kind if hoping Gauthier drops into the mid 20's and somehow the Flames are able to trade up from 35 to nab him.

Would people be happy with Tyson Jost?
The more I read about him the more I want to pick him.
He is now ranked #7 in the Sportsnet rankings.

I find this to be true about any prospect I read about. I guess it is the way articles/draft reports are written, they always sound like they are describing a superstar.

I honestly don't see enough of any of these players, nor do I have the scouting knowledge, to say who the Flames should take.
I'm confident though, that whoever is left on the board our scouts will make a solid choice. They've knocked the last couple high picks out of the park.

I guess I should clarify, if it came down to Nylander vs Brown vs Kellar vs Jost, I would take Jost at 6.

I know Jost has got tons of love since his great tournament performance. I'm still taking Nylander before him easily tho.

I watched a lot of the Under 18s and Jost stood out in a good way. He's fast, tenacious, good shot and good passer as well as smart. For coming from a lesser league, he outshone most of the rest in that tournament as he was Captain of his team and lead the tourney in scoring. He looked like a finished player, meaning to me he could probably step right into the AHL with no problem. The problem I guess is how much improvement can he make? Maybe what he shows is all he's got but the scouts would have a much better handle on his upside than I do. He's also average sized and reminds me a bit of Langkow which wouldn't be bad at all.
I think he can slot into a 2nd or 3rd line role but I'd rather take more of a higher end player who can play top two defence or can play 1st line forward.

With the Canucks dealing McCann for Gudbranson, does that make it even more likely they look for a center this draft?
What if the Oilers take Dubois? Does Vancouver reach for Brown at 5?
