How can you leave the guy on first with one out and an automatic double play with Kirk and anything on the ground?

With Vladdy on third I bet they don’t even attempt a throw.
Again Yamamoto is very hard to steal off because he's VERY quick to the plate.

Crazy that we were mere centimetres from winning it in the bottom of the ninth.

Bieber threw a brutal meatball in the 10th which we managed to almost overcome. Kirk was literally the worst person to come up at that point. His contact skills are a double edged sword. Sometimes striking out would be preferable to pounding it into the ground which, for him, is a guaranteed double play.

Also was Barger still hurt a bit from that foul off his shin? Might have been apprehensive to run.

Yes, but teams are often very hesitant to throw through to second with a guy on third.

A hit and run would have been a good call though with Kirk’s elite contact skills and less than elite sprint speed.

So many different ways you can look at this one and dissect how close they were. One of those games as a fan that will stick with you for some time but for tonight it’s best to flush it and try and do something to take your mind off of it. We are just fans and while it sucks it’s still just our entertainment.

No one feels worse than the guys in that lockeroom and everyone in the organization who have spent their whole lives working for this moment. That’s a loss many of those guys will be thinking about for the rest of their lives, really feel for them.

It’s my fault they lost. I tuned in for the first time ever. They had a 3-1 lead, and then..

With the infield in and the third baseman a lot closer to him, a line drive or a hard hit ground ball to third he could get doubled up easier and that would be a lot worse.

A ground ball anywhere other than directly at a guy or a fly ball wins it nevermind something more wins it.

That's a horse#### take. They didn't execute well enough two games in a row.

After Lauer's performance in game 3, I thought it was an epic fail on Schneider's part to not at least give him an inning tonight.

Oh well. Guess I'm gonna take a long break from sports (maybe except for NFL). Having a dog in the fight is something I can't go through again for a long time. Today broke something in me as a sports fan. Seeing the Stamps and Jays lose the way they did, plus the Flames confirming they are a bad team. I'll probably tune out until the spring and see how I feel about things then.

NFL is different because I never have a dog in the fight, and can chill & watch dispassionately. All I have the stomach for, at least for a while.

I just think for a Calgary fan, the Flames run is going to be tougher to get over. But baseball, maybe just due to the nature of the games, can be more agonizing.

Although double OT in game 6 and idiot fans chanting we want the Cup is still a knot in my stomach.
Without the Flames run in 04 I'm not sure they're still in Calgary today. It was really tough to lose but it meant so much for the city.

Things were REALLY bad prior to 03-04.

The 3rd baseman was way off the base though. I mean look at where they were at the moment the ball was hit, he clearly could have been another step or two off without risking a double play:

Spoiler!

I'm not going to go down the "what if" rabbit hole here. I just think that balls and strikes should be completely automated. This is from someone that played for a while and umpires at the youth level.

We have the technology, just use it.....

This is me, same with college football.

Looking forward to the Winter Olympics too, not just best-on-best hockey either.

Their name is the TORONTO Blue Jays. Not the Canada Blue Jays. Like the TORONTO Maple Leafs and their fans have done for 20 years, they thought they were the centre of the universe and blew it. Thank you, LA Dodgers. In esteem with the 2006 Hurricanes, 2011 Bruins, and 2023/2024 Panthers. Nobody wants to associate with the 2019 Warriors.

Haven’t seen Sportsnet this dejected and salty since the last Oilers loss. Game’s over, be a pro.

Balls and strike calls go both ways

Old fashioned home runs were the difference

One team found ways to strand runners. The other hit solo homers. Sucks but what are you going to do

Jeff Hoffman in his postgame just took all the blame and says he costs his team the series so you guys solely blaming him can rejoice, even though everybody else so far in their presser has said they would Hoff out there again.
