Ons isn't playing badly, it's just that Iga is on another level today.

Iga did take a little vacation there, as she's wont to do... if she didn't do that and had a stronger serve - maybe a more consistent ball toss that would improve placement - she'd win every non grass tournament for the next 5 years.

A little life for Ons here as Iga's level has dropped.
Edit: Jabeur needed to break in that game, really feels like Iga could close this out soon.

Iga is trying to fight through it but you can definitely tell she's tightened up as this has gotten close, both in terms of the set and in terms of getting close to a potential championship point. 15-30 in that last game, usually she at least gets it to deuce there.

Grabbing a new stick on championship point is...odd.

Who does that? And then goes lose the next three points. Boy, that was a decision, wasn't it.

Jabeur has a huge entourage. Swiatek is #1 and only has 4 people.

Glad that ended in two, I don't think I could have put up with the fans for another set.

Charlie takes the opening set 6-4. I think Ruud really needs to raise his level if he's even going to win a set today.

Okay, this match needed that last game to inject some life into it. Ruud breaks and is serving at 4-2 in set 2.

Ruud takes set 2 6-2. Charlie needs to stop going to the drop shot as Casper is way too fast and is getting all of them back. Also, Casper started serving better in set 2 and conversely Carlitos serve went missing in set 2.

So naturally Charlie earns a break to start set 3 via a drop shot that Ruud dumps in the net. Take that dash lol
Edit: Carlitos wins the first two games of set 3, Casper wins the next 3.

I just heard on the broadcast that Charlie has yet to win a tie-break at this US Open. I only mention this because Alcaraz is serving at 5-6 in set 3.
