Which course was this at?

Not at all - I was a bit concerned about that, actually, but they are not noticable in the slightest.

The biggest drawback is the cost, for sure. The $120/yr subscription is pricy, but I think it is worth it.

(You could buy the link and not have the phone issue)
If you are going to go with the Arccos, you have to get the Link ($120 or something like that). And, yes, that plus the subscription, it isn't cheap.

But it is all well worth it IMO.

Isn't that a prairie course? I guess it's all relative.

How does everyone feel about non traditional layouts? I booked a time at Ocean Shores for a few weeks from now and they have 6x par 3s 6x par 4s and 6x par 5s...works out to a par 72, but two extra par 3s and 5s.

Unique or gimmick?

Speargrass just outside of Calgary has 6 of each. I never really considered it a gimmick but I honestly like the extra par 3s.

Boulder has 3 of each on the front side although two of the par 5s are quite short.

I generally prefer playing par 3 and par 5s over playing par 4s, so I would welcome this layout.

IMO, an even distribution of 6, 6 and 6 makes more sense, and sounds more appealing, than 4, 10 and 4.

I bought new Cobras that came with Arccos. You put on a credit card for a 3 month free trial, then the app doesn't work becuase the set doesn't have enough sensors, then you order the remaining sensors for your other clubs (free), then you wait.

1.5 months later, no extra sensors, no working app. Really excited for this free trial!

Any updates on ranges that let you hit off of grass? I called Elbow Springs and Inglewood, which are my normal targets and they said no.

I guess I'll be in that boat. My tracking number for the sensors said they're coming from England somewhere.

I think on the far side of Mackenzie you can hit off grass.

Or you could go to Home Depot and buy a slab of sod and take it with you to the range to hit off of

I just order the Golfpad Tags which are similar to Arcos.
I already use the Golfpad App as it works with my Samsung gear watch, so this add on seems worth a try.
They're $99 USD but there's $20 off right now for fathers day.

Delacour is usually off grass, I'd call to make sure because sometimes they use their mats.

River's Edge and Speargrass are off grass 100% of the time.

Might be too far for you but Strathmore is off grass, and there's also a bunker you can hit out of...or into I guess.

can't tell if serious or not, but seems like a genius idea? or seriously frowned upon at the range if not banned?

That is amazing. CP group effort to all show up at the same range at the same time, with sod rolls in hand?
