It is a 787 according to Air Canada and Seat Guru's website.

Oh ok. Thought they used a 321 on that flight, I'd be all over it then.

I'm 6'2 and didn't have any issues in the last row of the 787-8.

That said, I don't generally have issues with leg room, only on the Rouge A319 did it really bother me.

As stated above the self-tinting windows are really cool. I'd recommend it.

What's your secret? I'm also 6'2" and by the end of a 3-4 hour flight I'm pretty uncomfortable in those smaller pitch seats.

I go out of my way to avoid any planes with low pitch in their seats now.

I wish I knew.

Maybe, it's from growing up sitting in the back seat of the car?

Maybe, it's the fact I generally put one leg up on the wall of the plane while I look out the window?

Maybe, it's all the beer I drink while travelling?

WestJet, now offering service from Sondre Stromfjord, Greenland to Toronto.

A diversion from LGW-YYZ due to a potential issue with the avionics. They sent a 737 and 738 up from YYZ to pick up the passengers yesterday.

That would be the coolest place to be diverted to so long as it wasn't like a blizzard.

That's what I was thinking too, I'd definitely see the plus side of it.

Not really a cool place to explore as we were not able to be let out of the airport because they didn't have security personnel, border services, or well anything else.

They did have a cafeteria that served beer, hot meals and reindeer, that much was nice. Not many places to sleep though, or many blankets, that much was not as good.

Air India is now operating the longest flight in the world by distance (not time), AIC173 operates Delhi-San Francisco and is using a routing that is actually longer than the usual great circle route, but due to jetstreams is coming in about 2 hours shorter in flight time. It is approximately 15,100km but can vary due to flight planning:

Weak. You should've just walked out if there was no security

They had security guards at all of the exits, plus it was nighttime, - 10, and no one was prepared for the winter so there was only so much exploring that could be done. All in all it was a unique experience, but not exactly a positive one.

Latest WestJet scuttlebut I heard, take the second one for what it's worth (a rumor, I would not put a lot of faith in it).

1. the diversion was due to an avionics cooling system fault. The redundant (backup) system was already out and since this item is MEL'd when they got the fault it was an immediate diversion. I believe they could not operate ETOPS that day (maybe becasue of this?) and we fling a more northern route than they normally would have which is why they ended up in Greenland. A mechanic went up with the rescue flights, the plane was fixed and ferried back to Gatwick and operated the next day to Toronto.

2. Rumor in the hangar is ANA (Japan) has 9 767's they are looking to sell and Westjet may be interested in some or all.

Is WS still having major problems with the 767's they have now?

Great... more used 767's cause the first ones have been preforming so well. They should have just bit the bullet and ordered new. With all of the problems and concesions they've handed out to guest because of it, its gotta be getting close to even now.

These ones, albeit used are apparently quite different and more typical of a wide body airframe of their age. They are not as old as the Qantas birds and would have a much lower number of cycles on them. But as I said, this is just hangar talk scuttlebut and I would not put a lot into it.

I would say no. Some people would say yes. It's objectively not as bad as it was in the early summer, but I'd bet their dispatch reliability and delays per frame are still not up to the level of other carriers operating 767's that are in the 25 year old range.
