If you throw it with no curl on it, then the imprefections in the ice will be more likely to affect the rock, physics sort of like a knuckleball. The curl on it makes the throw much more predictable.

You can't have a draw in an end. You either have a blank or one team scores. A blank is highly unlikely in an extra end.
