I actually don't mind listening to a baseball PBP if I am putting around in the garage or something. It's hours of baseball talk that kills me.

Lots of Jays fans in Calgary, just not vocal within CP

Jay's thread in the other sports section could use a new voice with an interesting take now and then. I'm not sure if people know it's there.

In other sports, you hang on every moment of the action.
Baseball is something that is meant to happen while you’re having a conversation with someone else. Maybe several people.
You sit outside, have a hot dog and a beer, and enjoy the evening.
Once in a while, some cool #### happens. At the end of the game, it can get quite intense. That’s when you pay attention.
I don’t know how anyone follows every pitch of a baseball season. Like, ####ing kill me.

Probably the reason why its not a sport but a pass time.

It’s kind of a dying sport. Less kids are playing baseball (oddly enough softball is seeing an increase) and MLB attendance is on a steady decline.

I'll watch playoff baseball because the crowd is into it and you get a sense of the energy. Regular season baseball is quiet and a bit boring.
Watching live is better. Combine people watching with watching a game and conversation with your friends or family.

What would you even discuss all day about Baseball? What brand of chew they are using? 99% of the time they just stand around.

I watched a baseball game once in 1991 and again when the cubs won. Both games were boring.

Yeah, in playoff baseball, the boring moments in the regular season are tense/suspenseful moments in the playoffs. That's when I'll watch it.
Agreed with who said baseball is meant to be watched in the background when you're socializing. I think that's reflected in baseball stadiums too. I've been to the Mariners and Seahawks new (at the time: 2005 and 2007) stadiums, which are right next to each other and built around the same time. At the Mariners one there's a massive team store to poke around, at one point it was the biggest team store in MLB. There's just lots of places in that stadium to go poke around in.
For the Seahawks meanwhile, it's not nearly the same in that regard. Team store but that's about it, just there to watch the game. I feel that's by design, just in the way the 2 sports are played. Baseball you may want to get up and stretch your legs for a bit, football you're pretty much glued. Just my opinion anyway.

I love the Jays and know lots of people who love the Jays. I enjoy watching pieces of games (usually not able or willing to sit through full games). But I do enjoy listening to games on the radio or just general Jays talk. Especially when the NHL season hasn't started. I guess I'm some sort of freak according to most of the people on this forum!

Speaking of Calgary sports media, congrats to Scorp on this milestone! Here’s to many more Scorp and a long career in sports media!

Good work Scorp. May you continue your success.
My parents go to baseball games, they don’t even watch lol. They just sit and enjoy the sunshine and have a beer.

Its a lot of numbers. I listened to a about a half an hour before they switched over to the best of Fan960 yesterday afternoon and the guy hosting a Jays show spent the whole time dropping numbers.
This guy is batting .341 but he's 8/17 against lefties and 11/14 against the shift but 17/22 in afternoon games but only 3/22 in road games because statistically teams do better at home...on and on and on.
It was like listening to a Kent Wilson Athletic article.

We watched the Cardinals play the Reds in Cincinnati in the spring. Great people with great knowledge of the game. I really enjoyed it.

I’m one of those. Watching or listening to all 162 games of my team. If I can’t watch or listen, following closely on the MLB app and looking at every update to my watch.
With the exception of NCAA Basketball, I have been fortunate enough to have seen live sporting events in most sports/leagues.. but to me there’s nothing better than being at a MLB park to watch a game. It’s not for everyone and I get it.
