Use a lot of caution out there this morning. Even knowing where all the melt was yesterday I still took two falls on the ride in. Both around the zoo, one at the suspension bridge and the other the bend around the muskox enclosure right at Nose creek. The fresh snow cover doesn't help either as it is hiding everything.

Little know fact - the muskox love mornings like these because they get to watch numerous cyclists navigate treachery. It is part of their enrichment program.

Paid attention last night on way home, wasn't horrible in the south, however the bridge over the river at Glenmore was glare ice last night so I didn't even try this morning, just went around. All the melt water flows down it during the day, could have skated it yesterday

Sadly the muskox aren't even there to watch right now, they've been temporarily moved off site while the zoo has all that construction for their expansion in that area.

I also ordered a raveman front light - this is a more of a be seen front light and it mounts in the socket for my garmin and then the gamin sits on top of it. It is pretty clean. Will be interested to see what the battery life is

Where'd you order it from?

That was one of my favourite things when I rode downtown. Seeing the muskox everyday made me smile.

Tis the season of evening runoff water and morning splat marks, especially after a light snow dusting. Saw several splatters shared between those on wheels and foot. Gotta love these light evenings but gotta remember to charge my lights for the morning. Hopefully no more deep freezes coz it’s nice dressing lighter.

Yah it was a chilly one Monday morning. Had to throw the toe warmers over top and the super warm Jacket. Then overheated on the splashy ride home. This evening there was even more meltwater and a few larger lakes forming. Good luck in the morning everyone!

Well if you use pad brakes be careful this morning. Deeper puddles have iced over, but you can easily break through and ice up your rims, making the brakes somewhat not effective. Around the zoo in particular has some nice deep puddles.

So. much. ice.

Going to have to find an alternate route tomorrow, I hope 10th st is ice free. The side streets are a gnarly mess of iced ruts, partially frozen snirt, and black ice. The path down the bluff has begun it's transformation into the B track for the Calgary Sliding Centre again.

Yeah, as much as I hate it I may opt to go on St. George's drive tomorrow morning and skip the part around the zoo until those puddles subside. Rides home in the positive temps no biggie.

i generally try to target around mid-april for riding into work. seems like there is more snow this year than past years and right now i am preparing to not meet my target.

I bought myself a new neon green hi-vis jacket from MEC that i am itching to wear

That little section of what looks like a gravel road on google maps just north of the Calf Robe Bridge along the Bow River Pathway by the south-side of water treatment plant - does that connect to 15th St - or will it? It looks gated shut from street view but it would be a nice short cut.

Ah, that’s too bad. I saw a lot of new pathways around that hadn’t shown up yet on google. The Ogden -> 42nd -> 15th -> Highfield was a pain. I am kind of surprised they don’t have anything planned for the big swath of green space on that side of Deerfoot.
