Problem is that I don't see a team in the top 5 that would take Nurse over the forwards available.

Now that he's coming over, and likely to go in top 5, that 3 minutes that Carolina was unable to hold that lead hurts even more.

!00% agree. I would really like to see the Flames move into the top 5. Not sure who the best candidates are to move down though...have read some people suggesting Tampa is possible...maybe Carolina. Don't see anyone else moving out of the top 5 though.

How far up the draft do you think the #21 and #29-30 could get the flames? Would have to be pretty close to top 10. Could it get us up to #8?
Now that i think of it, trading up to #8 would be a waste if they are after a center. Lindholm and Monahan would be off the board.
|
ya but they could still be targeting Shinkaruk around #10 so its not a far fetched idea

I think people read way too much into these little quotes. The guy isn't a native english speaker and it's a one line quote that could easily have more context behind it if we heard the whole interview. Something going wrong can mean a lot of things - it's not necessarily a matter of not getting the ice time he wants. Something going wrong could easily describe a guy like Cervenka too - a guy who just didn't fit in in the North American game.
The kid is leaving for North America after getting screwed around a bit in the KHL. I'd say if anything that makes him a lot less of flight risk since he doesn't exactly have a good memory of being treated well professionally back home.

I'm not sure if you are counting the USHL kids, the US high school kids and the US National Development Program Team but most of those kids will end up in college in the next year or two.

I'd say borderline top 10 for the first instance and top 5 for the second instance.
|
Yeah it is a bit of a crap shoot just curious as the overall caliber of player he projects to. I know it is a little difficult as he still has one year behind development wise with the current crop.

Well color me darned excited! Now there's a very good chance Barkov falls to Calgary!
Cannnot see Nichushkin and Drouin falling below TB and NSH.

who does Carolina take? Even if Nichushkin is taken in the top 5, Barkov likely doesn't slip to out of the top 5
If the Russian is taken in the top 5, it will give the Flames a choice on Lindholm vs Monahan, rather than the one left over

Carolina may take Monahan or Lindholm as well. Just do not know yet.

TB fans say that there are rumblings that Nichushkin is #1 on their board, and that their head of scouting is in love with the kid. Many Carolina fans seem to think that they'd take Monahan before this Nichushkin news broke, so assuming that's correct they will most likely take Barkov should he be there and Nichuskin gone.

That would be a gift. Draft always surprises...and if Barkov fell to 6 that would be one hell of a nice surprise.

Fans don't know jack about who their teams will pick. Absolutely nothing. They can theorize like us but the know nothing about what their teams will do with their picks.

One thing I could see happening is Tampa trading down a few spots if they know that Nichushkin is still a possibility. They likely know that neither Nashville or Calgary would want to take the risk on a Russian and they (Tampa) could still draft him while picking up another asset by trading down.
I feel Carolina holds a lot of power there though as I am not sure how Russianphobic they are. If they are unlikely to pick Nichushkin, I think Tampa would entertain trading down 3rd to 6th. Yzerman loves his Russians and came from a system that had a lot of luck with them.
If I am Feaster, I am on the phone with Tampa and Carolina right now to see if there is a deal there.

Given what was written above...
Quote:
I had already decided that leave for the NHL, said Nichushkin, who added both the Tampa Bay Lightning and Nashville Predators have expressed interest in drafting him. [Dynamo] calmly reacted to this. I was told that I could leave if I want. No legal problems there.
|
... If they really want Nichushkin there is no deal to be had.

Don't see why Nashville drafts the Russian after what Radulov did to them.

Nichushkin would be a great fit for Tampa. If Nashville or Carolina take a chance on Nurse then we could snag Drouin or Barkov... Very exciting!
Can't believe we have to wait another month for the draft...
