Jays got a couple of huge breaks there. An odd but satisfying win. Twins fans gotta be livid.

I wouldn't want to face the Twins in the playoffs. Seemed like every hitter was a threat in that series, and their pitching was on point more often than not.

Weird, jays never catch breaks like that

Their playoff losing streak has to end eventually too

Caleb Joseph with the good explanation of that play at home plate. He started by blocking the lane. Very interesting.

Same play happened in Baltimore and they overturned it too. You need to give him a lane to slide.

The explanation we just got from MLB said the replay officials felt Sanchez's movements into foul territory (ie into the path of the runner) were not in reaction to the trajectory of the ball, ie he did not have to do that/be there to catch the ball. #bluejays

That sounds in line with Joseph’s explanation. Had Sanchez established the runner’s lane and then moved into it to catch the ball and apply the tag, the play would have stood. However, he was in the lane right from the start.

Lots of grey area there.

Back in the day Merrifield would have just flattened Sanchez and there would be no tag to speak of, run scored and probably a concussion or two.

Not that I'm advocating for that.

Saw the Canadians play today. Nice comeback win and some good home runs by Cs players. Nice to go to a baseball game for the first time in a while.

C's games are just one of the best things to do in Vancouver in the summer.

Jays have now crept to 9.5 games back of the yankees who have been scuffling pretty good lately. 5 losses in a row now.

The oriLOLes are still hot though despite selling at the deadline. Hard to believe they actually hold down a playoff spot right now and are only 3 games back of the Jays for the 1st wild card spot.

Huge series coming up against them now, I think 6 of the next 9 games are against the O's actually, with a 3 game set against Cleveland sandwiched in there.

I remember watching Biggio when he played in Vancouver. I thought it was cool he was Craig Biggio's son but I never thought he would end up playing for the Blue Jays one day.

Was actually just looking at AL standings and in past 10 games the O's are 7-3, the Tigers are 3-7 and every other team is either 6-4, 5-5 or 4-6
