That is brutal. US futures are down 4% to 5% right now. Going to be another fun week.

If you look at the CAPEs the market is still significantly overpriced relative to historical average. Essentially the market can go down another 30% and still be above 20.

And that’s without Tarrifs playing into it. So part of this is just a significant correction.

I was wondering about that too. Seemed like things were generally overpriced anyway, across the board.

Will RESPs take a beating from this? Or are they timed to be out of equities when they reach maturation?

I mean, an RESP is just a wrapper, you can put anything in it. It could be all YOLO options on meme stocks (oops - no college for you) or it could be a target date fund that goes heavier into bonds as time goes on.

Yeah some of the managed ones adjust based on kids ages so I imagine those shift to much more risk adverse as the kids get older. But if it’s self managed it’s just another tax sheltering investment account (with matching) and can be in anything

Facebook is being flooded with advertisements to invest in an RBC backed program where you buy in with $350 and earn $20,000.00 per month for ever after. Promoted by Mark Carney himself. It can’t be true…how can it be allowed?

Because Zuckerburg follows the wind(money), and when Trump was elected vowed woke was dead and fact checking and customer safety is woke so it got thrown out.

I do feel sorry for them.

I wrote an article once about Michael Burry (the famous investor from the Big Short). I was contacted after by someone who wanted to know if I had Burry's contact information because he hadnt been returning his twitter DM's about the crypto investment Burry sold him.

Except the twitter profile he had was clearly labelled as a "joke" account and wasn't Burry's real account. This (older) gentleman had converted his retirement money to crypto and sent it to the scammer. I felt pretty bad being the one to break the news to him that his money was most likely gone forever and he should contact the authorities.

I've reported those piece-of-sһit ads so many times (since the time when they were still showing Trudeau and various Canadian newscasters saying all this same crap) and Facebook does nothing whatsoever. They're a trifecta of 'financial scam', 'fake celebrity endorsement', and 'misleading product or service' all wrapped into one. Facebook couldn't give a crap.

That's the one that also has Gretsky and Margo Robbie promoting it? I assumed it had to be AI generated

Haven't seen that one yet. Just the usual Carney promoting a $350 investment to return $20,000/month or some newscaster talking about "Elon Musk's great deal for Canada" nonsense. Just complete horsesһit.

^^Cause Trump did his "90 days pause" thing. His cronies got their positions in order first, I would imagine.
