When you are 6'7 I am ok with a blocking goalie.

I actually hope it is Bernier, always thought he had the tools to be a great goalie and history backs that up if you ignore what the Leafs have done with him.

Bishop's such a monster that, even on his knees, he covers most of the top of the net.

They're probably in town to watch the Steven Stamkos Circus.

Exactly this Bishop stuff is nonsense.
He isn't going anywhere, I haven't heard any mention of it anywhere but here...
People just dreaming up scenarios - I'm pretty sure if the Lightning wanted to move him to make room for Stammer it would have been done long ago.
Likely Bernier related which scares me I hate dealing with the Leafs... too many bad memories...

Bishop and Stamkos for Hiller and Raymond. Throw in a 5th to sweeten the pot.

I don't want Treliving or Burke sniffing around any Leafs trades. I'd actually prefer the Flames never ever trade with Toronto again, for any player.

I thought the job of a goalie was to block shots, we've already got two swiss cheese goalies.

Hudler for Drouin. That's fair, right?

In respect to the 'blocker' goalies, I think that there is going to be a reckoning coming soon regarding the size of equipment, and the purely positional goaltenders are going to be exposed.
There are very few goalies with the contractual requirements that meet the needs of the Flames at this time, that are worth trading for. We basically need a bridge, that is good enough to keep us competitive, but won't become a contractual liability when MacDonald, Gilles, or a resurgent Ortio are ready for ice time.
This is why Bernier is going to continue to be a rumor, and Bishop will not be a factor. Few goalies worth their salt that only have one or two years remaining past this one, and would welcome Hiller as a backup. Bernier in Toronto, Lehtonen in Dallas, Elliott in St. Louis..... and that's about it.
Or, we ride it out.

This. Sorry to say it but it's probably just quality time with the boss for BT.

Something goes down by the NHL roster freeze. I don't think we can afford Bishop so I'm going to guess Bernier is a Flames soon. Hiller going the other way to balance the cost of Berniers second year.

I don't get why people were of the opinion that Khudobin is anything more than a fringe backup. He was not worth a claim as he sucks.
I have been supportive of a Hiller Bernier swap for some time. I hope it happens
Also regarding the trade freeze. It has become so damn hard to make deals in the league I don't think adding a week on a trade freeze is doing the Flames any good. Treliving did away with the low numbers thing and the way this season has gone I could see them doing away with the extended freeze as wel

makes little sense for the Leafs
this past summer has shown that if they want to move Bernier in the offseason they are at least going to get a 3rd back for Bernier
that's a lot more valuable than Hiller at this point

Well Bernier has been awful this year and has the extra year on his deal if he is not the answer in net Toronto will want to dump that contract

Because they don't want to risk an injury scuttling the deal.

Yeah, but that same extra year ties Treliving's hands in trying to get a more legit guy in the offseason.

Not really - the only goalie under contract for next year is Gillies (plus McDonald)

And Bernier loses another one for Toronto (5 to 4). He's yet to win a game this year.

I hope all this media attention on Stamkos because he liked a tweet, turns him off from ever playing for the Leafs.
