Survived Sand-chella. What a brutal storm.
Highlights: ERIC PRYDZ!!!!! Hot Chip, Wu-Tang, Postal Service, YYY's, Monsters and Men, Lumineers (possibly the biggest crowd all weekend), Moby, Paul Kalkbrenner.
Phoenix and R. Kelly was....something.
Lowlights: Whoever thought it was a good idea to have the Stone Roses headline. Smallest main stage crowd I saw almost all weekend.
The sound was terrible at almost every stage all weekend too.

I had VIP access at Lolla last year (didn't pay for it but found my way into a wristband) and didn't find it worthwhile at all. Now I didn't use it all weekend, and didn't really know the full array of options available to me (I had an Artist wristband, but there may have been other better areas for higher level wristbands) but it basically let me go to a big bar area backstage where there were free drinks. You couldn't see the stage, there were still lines for drinks, you still had to piss in porta-potties and the area seemed to be largely filled with industry people. It was also fairly crowded.
Lolla is pretty well run. It'll be crowded, but not insanely so and you can typically find space at any stage if you get to the back or the sides. Entry and exit is pretty smooth, and if you stay close to the venue it's just a walk back to the hotel so no need to deal with transport. It has to be the easiest festival out there (barring torrential storms like last year, and even that went pretty smooth).
On the flip side, I had VIP for Made in America last year and it was a life saver. Unless you were in the crush of the crowd you couldn't see the main stage due to the large fountain in the park, so you were left with large screens they'd setup. VIP meant you were standing at the fountain, perfectly positioned to see the stage and with a long access path that avoided having to move through the crowd. If I don't find a way to free VIP this year I'll likely pay for the upgrade, it was 100% worth it.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. A lot of times I have found these festivities will just try to get money out of you for nothing.

That's dissapointing, they were one of the most legendary band there. It's funny that more people went to hear one of Lumineers songs than to see the Stone Roses. I guess it's not the right continent for them

Lumineers = Of Monsters and Men = Mumford and Sons. All ok bands but very tiring IMO. Most aren't patient enough for Stone Roses. Fruit isn't juicy enough

To be fair, the dude from The Stone Roses can't sing worth a damn anymore. I lasted two songs and it was horrific.

No Daft Punk appearance at Coachella weekend 2. They didn't even get an R. Kelly appearance. Bummer.

I didn't think there was any chance that DP would show up for weekend 2 and not 1. In a way I'm glad they didn't show up at all because there's no way they would have played more than one song. I'm holding out hope (although faint) that they come next year. I feel as though Golden Voice is going to have to come up with some big headliners for 2014 after the sub par acts that closed out the main stage this year.
Don't get me wrong, the headliners were decent but I don't think any one of them would have been able to headline at Coachella last year. I mean the Stone Roses had 5000 people there, that's embarassing for Golden Voice.
I already can't wait for next year!

Doubtful. You're out in the middle of nowhere. Some years we barely get phone service.
It's a pretty awesome weekend, I'm sure you'll have a good time.
Pretty much over my Coachella hangover now, SASQUATCH HERE WE COME! 29 DAYS!

What an awesome weekend! Highlights for me were probably Foals, Wu Tang, Disclosure and The Faint. I don't know if I was really disappointed by anyone, I guess maybe Japandroids, they aren't really an outdoor type band. Only 51 weeks until Coachella 2014!!
