Apparently, team captains have the option to toggle between playoff and regular games.
Also a funny note: I was lazy, and din't shave this morning. So I actually have a bit of stubble now. A real playoff beard!

thats something we need everyone to be aware of. don't want to lost just because a couple people accidentally played a playoff game.

Who was team captain for that last game we played? Did he choose? Or did it just put us in a playoff game? He must have chosen.
Next game, I am playing net!

Good job on the playoff wins guys. Let's hold off on those games until tomorrow evening at 7PM. Who can be available to play then? Let's try to ice our best team.

Count me in on LD
I also agree on icing the best team possible, and not just selecting anyone who tends to be online.
Even if that best team possible doesn't include me Go Fata's

The playoffs are so random. We played our hardest game in the first round and ended up playing a team with a losing record in the final (a team we would never match up against in the regular season due to the matching system - they were in amateur for goodness sakes) and gave them them the whooping of their lives. It's nothing like meeting a rival in the end of year playoffs...

Jobo maybe you could outline what roster you think we should roll with and alternates that way you can field the best team possible for the playoff games.
Don't worry about hurting feelings we are all grown ups (except diverse he might cry a little)

IMO, I think that human goalies are a big liability in NHL11. Without the auto cover feature in previous NHL games, it is way too easy for opposing players to crash the net and put those little scrambling rebounds in.

Nah, good human goalies > CPU. There may not be many of them, but how many people do you know that play goalie exclusively?

But you also see a lot more cross crease one timers and breakaways stopped, which I think are the way every team tries to score goals.
I think a good goalie is better then a computer goalie (not stating I'm one of them)

That may be true. However, I know when I see a human goalie playing, I take as many low wristers as possible because I know they have troubles covering up the puck. This makes it very simple for forwards to crash and score that way.

Nah, good goalies have great rebound control, and their D men are right there to clean up any mess they leave behind, which isn't much. Good goalies play on good teams, and good teams can keep shots to the outside and keep the slot clear.
If you're describing OTP, then I agree obviously.

99% of the time human goalies are a disadvantage. thats because there are so few that are actually good. for the top teams, having human goalies is important, as it takes glitches out of the game. however, for most, it is more of a disadvantage because humans let in easier goals. the only way this will ever change is if EA makes the cpu goalies totally terrible. then teams will be forced to use human goalies. the only reason so there are so many 2 person teams that play C/LW is because its easy to win that way and its easy to score goals that way. as long as you can get by most of the time with CPU defense and goalies, then small teams will dominate. unfortunately, i think cpu defense actually got better this year thanks to their cross crease awareness. that was their one major weakness in the past. i am glad they plugged that hole, unfortunately, it removed incentive to use real human D.
one problem i think there is as far as the discussion goes on many of these issues is there is a widening gap between the top 20 teams and everyone else. its funny watching videos of top teams playing each other. it looks nothing like the style of gameplay from OTP and not even like the style of gameplay for most clubs. i am not saying either way is right, wrong, better, or worse, but because of the large difference, you have people wanting very different things from EA, the AI, etc.
