Did you head down to their new brew pub, The Woods? They opened one up on 2nd Ave. just south of 23rd street.
Next time you are in go check them out, they do a horrible job of updating the beers on the webpage but there is always more in there than listed.

I've had a hard time finding an IPA to top 606, and they also have a hefeweizen they are just starting to roll out that is delicious. I have been drinking it for the last few sessions and am very impressed. Has yet to be named.. but I think it will be a seasonal summer beer.

Didn't go there this time but I have been there, great place to have a relaxed night out. The 606 is definitely one of my favourite IPAs, I seem to always compare any I try with the 606. Loki is their masterpiece though, have 3 of those and it knocks you out for the night.

is 606 available in 6packs or 650 bombers?
I haven't seen it here on the coast, only Black Cat and another one which escapes me at the moment.

They sell them in 6 packs and they are also part of their "Big Box of Beer" 15 packs. I bet if a store has Black Cat (I'm betting the other one they have is Czech Mate?) they could probably order in the big box package.

Czech mate is the other one.
I'll head down and ask them to order some in for me, thanks.

Ahh Loki.. I remember my first encounter with it, years and years ago I was at one of the pubs on Broadway.. I was getting into craft beer and I was all about the Paddockwood. Looking down at the sheeple around me and their mass produced beer, thinking I was so cool. Well as karma would have it, a lesson would be learned that night.
I didn't quite understand yet that most craft beer is a step above your Keiths or Coors in alcohol content. So I was going pint for pint with my usual drinking partner, just a regular night stumbling around hitting on girls. I was about 6 or 7 pints of Loki in, then all of a sudden something hit me with the force of Thor's hammer and I was forced to sit down. I remember hazily my buddy looking at me and saying "What''s wrong with you?" But it was in slow motion like in the movies... "Whhhattttss wrrooonggg... with youuuuuu???" I replied "I dunno.. I dunno..." I was a little scared. The room was tilted, everyone was just a mess of wavy lines.. I had experienced something similar before drinking 9 heroine beer in one hockey game..
Well the rest of the night I was on waters and finally the server said "I can't believe you were able to handle that many Loki's in such a short amount of time" I mumbled, "Pardon?" she replied "Well yea, they are almost 9%."
The mystery of the hazy pub night was solved.
So whenever people come into town for a conference or whatever I usually take them out and they want to try the craft beer, so they are all about the Loki's. But every time they order one like an old crone from the corner I utter my warning... beware the power of the Loki, heed his mischievous call. The next day they are either thanking me for warning them or cursing that they didn't listen.

Sounds like my first experience with La Fin Du Monde. I was half a dozen pints deep before my buddy pointed at the beer menu and the 9% symbol beside it's name. The others stopped making fun of me for not keeping up the pace with them after that

That was like my first meeting with Imperial Stout. I was about 5 pints in, expecting Guinness power before I realized it was 10%

I'm shocked you actually kept ordering the same beer after having the first one.

I don't think it's very good, quite frankly.
Not a big Unibroue fan.

I also have a hard time with Fin Du Monde. I've tried several times. Not a big fan in general of those Belgian strong ale's that have that fruity taste.

This jerk also had me blacked out one night, puking in the bathroom hating life. Many lessons have been learned to get to where I am now..

Not a fan of La Fin du Monde but Maudite is delicious. I actually like another one of their triples La Fringante better than LFdM.

A fav when I'm down in the states.
It is available for the first time in Canada during Stampede. I think it's at Wildhorse, Roadhouse, and somewhere else.
They drove a truckload of it up across the border for the first time.

Was down in Montana during the long weekend. Visited the Great Northern Brewing. They have a couple of good beers.
Going to the Sun IPA
as well as their Good Medicine (only available on tap)

I also prefer Maudite and Trois Pistoles to La Fin du Monde. By a substantial margin. Also try the Ephemere variants...especially in the summer they are perfect. Solid brewery but I always feel that people try the wrong offerings!

Unibroue lets me down more often than not. Dieu du Ciel, on the other hand, has three of my favourite beers.

Brother in law just brought over the Chrysanthemum flavoured Dieu du Ciel. I can't say that it was my favourite but he tells me that if you enjoy something from Unibroue, you'll also enjoy something from Dieu du Ciel. Have you tried Trois Pistoles or Maudite?
I heart summer and beer tasting.

I've tried Trois Pistoles, Maudite, Blonde de Chambly and Blanche de Chambly. Blanche de Chambly was my favourite.
To be fair, I'm not a fan of that fermented fruit taste in beers all that much and Unibroue pursues that style pretty hard. So it's not that they don't make good products, since people seem to love them, just not the products for me.
