Well, guess the Iceicles are on the brink.. Giants lost too (I didn't go though, so can't really say how the game was).
I guess if the Conference Finals are Calgary/Lethbridge and Spokane/Tri-City (still lots of hockey to be played though), the Shaw team will stay in Alberta no?

It looks like I might have to go to the possible series clinching game on Friday. Wow, I still can't believe the Canes are doing this good, but maybe that hesitant feeling is because of all those dark years from 98-06.
Go Canes Go!! Lets end this series ASAP!!

For the record, I picked Lethbridge to come out of the East (and Tri-City the west, with the Ams winning the final), but I really thought Kootenay would put up much more of a fight than they have in this series.

Well, two OT losses suggests they are putting up a good fight. Lethbridge is just too deep. As I said before, they are the only team in the East that concerns me.

The road ends tonight for the Ice.. lost the series in 5.
Congrats to the Hurricanes and their fans, the better team definitely won, and good luck the rest of the way!

Hitmen blow a 2-0 lead and lose 5-2 to the Broncos
Off to Speedy Creek for game 6.

Came out flying, got up 2-0 early, then relaxed. I have no idea why a team that did the exact same thing in game 1 and lost, then came back from two big deficits in game 3 thought that a team playing for their lives would quit.
Swift Current deserved this one tonight.

Hitmen went into the third up 5-2, but are playing like absolute crap in the third. Swift Current all over them, and are now within one. Complete idiocy on defence has led to two of the Broncos four goals.

Had an idea!

So Lethbridge-Calgary in the Eastern Conference final?
should be a good one.

Yeah. This is going to be one hell of a difficult series for Calgary. Lethbridge is one of the few teams with the speed to neutralize our forecheck.

Final was 8-4, BTW, Hitmen got another empty netter.
Gotta give credit to the Broncos. That was one hell of a hard fought series.

I was at the Canes game last night and while the crowd was into it, I think it lacked the playoff buzz that I remember back when the Hitmen eliminated the Canes in the first round a couple of years ago. I believe Pogge was in net back then. Either Getzlaff or Ladd ended the series in Game 7 OT with a shot that was bobbled by Canes netminder Sorochan. I remember the buzz in the Enmax Center back then and I certainly didn't feel it last night.
Might've been the reserved style of play that both teams were doing. The Canes didn't want to blow it and the Ice were nervous about playing was was probably their last game of the year. The crowd seemed pretty good before the puck drop and it sure got into it late in the 3rd when it was apparent that the Canes were advancing, but I don't think the crowd was anything like a couple of years ago. Probably because Kootenay isn't much of a rival compared to Calgary. The Kootenay fans weren't into the game like the Hitmen fans would be.
I'm expecting an excellent series.
