That's gotta be Nickelback.

British experimental band The Fireman first hit the airwaves in 1993 with the all-instrumental dance album Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest. The album was hailed as "staggeringly brilliant" and then Melody Maker magazine exposed the minds behind The Fireman as producer Youth (Martin Glover) and former Beatle, Paul McCartney.
The second album, Rushes followed five years later, again an all-instrumental effort and now, in 2008 The Fireman have finally found their voice.
Recorded in 13 one-day sessions over the course of a year Electric Arguments will be released later this month.
The full album can be heard at NPR radio's website:

The new Killers record is (IMO) really really good. (IMO) They've come into their own since their early days and such (IMO) teeny-bopper new-wave techno-pop as "Somebody Told Me"; echoes of Queen and U2 and many of the songs show a great competency for bridges. Not sure when the album drops in stores but I give it a full spin of the black circle.

(IMO) the most overrated and boring band in recent memory. I don't really understand how they managed to get where they have. Then again I can say that for about 95% of successful mainstream bands these days.

Well this seems as good a place as any to pimp The Greatest Rock and Roll Band In The World.
The Supersuckers new album is out on Nov 25th and from what i've heard on their website it's gonna be a great album. Listen to bits of it at www.supersuckers.com
I promise it's a band and totally safe for work.

Well, I guess this is the place for a shameless plug of the band from my signature. Their latest album is out since late September. You can call it darkwave, industrial or trip hop, but the most important thing is that is great music. If you like bands like Portishead (which I do), well, this is MUCH better. Seductive female vocals over dark hypnotic beats and occasional guitars:
Collide - Two Headed Monster
You can listen to 2 tracks (Utopia and Chaotic) here:
http://www.last.fm/music/Collide/Two+Headed+Monster
Enjoy.

As long as Nickleback doesn't sit in the inclusive part of that 95%

I bought it about an hour ago and am just giving it a first listen. Pretty good so far, not as catchy as the other two albums it seems.

I'd also mention the new Antony & the Johnsons cd 'The Crying Light' which is wholly wonderful from beginning to end.

Yes, I should say that A C is not for everyone - those that like them, like them a lot. Some are calling this record an American classic for the ages. I have not heard it yet myself.

I picked up Noble Beast this weekend and I'm quite impressed with it. Like you say, not quite as fun (or showy) as Mysterious Production of Eggs or Armchair Apocrypha, but he continues to move in different lyrical directions than anyone else out there, and I don't really think there are any weak tracks (compared with AA, which I thought had a few).

I don't think Animal Collective is that bad. They definitely take getting used to though.
One new disk that I'd put out there is the new Bon Iver EP. Fantastic.

Awesome awesome album. I'm pretty new re: Animal Collective, but this one is a standout for me.
Did take some getting used to (first album I picked up was Strawberry Jam), but each song is like finding a needle in a haystack. Amid all the chaos is some pretty awesome music.

Loving this album - and yet it isn't nearly as good as their first two (their debut especially - but topping or even equalling that record would be a remarkable feat).
As far as I can tell this whole record is just about trying to get high and laid. Nothing else.

email from the Tragically Hip:
Hi Folks,
Greetings to all. We have some very exciting news to deliver. Our twelfth album, We Are The Same, will be released in North America on Tuesday, April 7th. The album was produced by Bob Rock and recorded primarily at the Bathouse Studio. It contains twelve new tracks that range from levity and light to melancholy and anger. We think it has a little bit for everyone and showcases the great range of the band.
The full track listing is:
Morning Moon
Honey, Please
The Last Recluse
Coffee Girl
Now The Struggle Has A Name
The Depression Suite
The Exact Feeling
Queen of the Furrows
Speed River
Frozen In My Tracks
Love Is A First
Country Day
The opening track, “ Morning Moon”, is now available to be streamed from our website, Facebook and MySpace page, as well as our iLike page. Novelists Joseph and Amanda Boyden wrote the new album bio. Please have a read, we think it captures the essence of We Are The Same better then we could ever imagine articulating it ourselves.
Stay tuned over the coming weeks, as we will continue to announce more great news, including album pre-order details, tour info and some more We Are The Same nuggets. For those of you who have not spent time at the redesigned thehip.com, we hope you enjoy. There is tons of new goodies, including full streaming of the entire discography, live shows, live pictures and our new online store, the Gift Shop. The Gift Shop features new items such as lyric and classic album t-shirts and the first three volumes of the Live From The Vault concert archive series.
