What a joke - Ichiro gets thrown out by a pretty significant margin and gets called safe, mariners have a huge inning with two outs.

looked great in the first inning with a grand slam, Zito was ordinary through at least the first 3 innings. Couldn't capitalize on all those base runners early and paid the price. Sigh.

Yesterday's game was very frustrating to watch. Looked like they were going to blow them out early, then let Zito off the hook and let him settle in and pitch well after the first few innings.
Tough one to lose.

Johnson says "welcome to the big leagues, kid" as he launches the poor guy's second ever pitch over the outfield wall.

Brutal loss... Does this turn the Jays into sellers tomorrow? Ted Lilly would fetch an impressive return I suspect...

Just when the jays season was pulling me in they have one of the ugliest road trips in recent memory. Not so much the losses but the ****ing away of leads in almost every case.

Well that finish was a kick in the junk, looks like both Sox are going to lose, so not all is lost, must sweep Yanks!

Well that sucks.
At a minimum this probably means the Jays won't be buyers...they may also not be sellers at this point but I can't imagine JP trading any decent prospects based on what the team did on the road trip.
Dissapointing. This road trip was a make or break one and it broke big time.

They didn't do .. anything?
Did they decide that they didn't want to send the "White Flag" message to the fans but also that they didn't want to buy anything because they didn't believe they could do it? Odd ...

probably weren't shopping as the asking price right now is ridiculously high (remember when Riccardi was looking for a no name mid-relief guy and the GM he spoke to wanted Rios in return?)

I guess, it just seems odd that they didn't at least try and get some return for the glut they seem to have in the outfield right now, with Johnson playing every day and Rios back in the lineup.

Its not really a glut...but moreso appropraite depth. Johnson and Cat would not have much trade value and you aren't going to deal Rios or Wells at this point.
I suspect what simply happened is the price to get any real help was too high, and the value they could get from trading a guy like Lilly wasn't enough to give up on the year.
So its status quo. Maybe this lights a fire under the team.

hope so, Jiri. Very frustrating watching this team kick ass on teams like the Yankees yet they stink against the Mariners and A's. The A's don't even have a 300 hitter in the lineup. I almost destroyed my satellite remote watching that game yesterday.

didn't see much of the game last night, but one thing I did see that bugs me: Vernon Wells. Yes, I know he's having a good season, decent HR #'s, average is good. But have you ever seen a player strike out looking so many times? Swing the bat already! I bet his average would move up 20 points if he'd just do that.
