Doubt Carolina is letting him get away at this point. I think a lot of teams learned from the flames gutting a few years ago.

I can’t see a world where the teams chasing Rantanen aren’t also chasing Marner, so Rantanen isn’t signing for worlds less than Mitch in any event.

Besides, the Hurricanes win with team defense and structure - not giving it to the big dogs and letting them cook. Rantanen’s not going to be as productive with Aho. But he’s still Mikko Rantanen.

4 nations ends Feb 20th and then the trade deadline is March 7. That is a very short window to decide Rantanen isn't working out and flip him again.

It would make for good drama for Carolina to move him back to the west.
