Looks a lot better than in his draft year, his technique has definitely improved with a better, longer stride that gives him more power- but he's still definitely not a speed merchant. I do hope the organization finds a place for him next year (even if he signs a minor-league contract for now), as I still think he could make an excellent defensive C in the future, with his size and physicality, defensive IQ, and faceoff skill (he's one of the best in the WHL).

Prince George beats Vancouver, 4-2. Lipinski gets 1a and was -1, with a game-high 7 shots and went 13/22 in faceoffs. 29gp/6g/21a/27pts,+4, 22 PIM.
Laing picked up 1a, and was +1. 36gp/10g/12a/22pts,+7, 26 PIM.

Hunter Laing traded to Saskatoon. Blades are the top team in the Eastern Conference right now.

I wonder if Zayne Parekh gets traded or requests to be traded as it seems his team is selling.
He's still junior eligible next year so I wonder if his team will just want to hold onto him in hopes he gets sent back down to the OHL for next season as well.
EDIT: I guess not cuz they still have Michael Misa and they just named him Captain.

Jan.8th:
Luke Misa's Steelheads beat Henry Mews' 67's by a score of 3-1. Mews gets 1a, was even, and had a team-high 7 shots. He is first in scoring by D in the OHL, with 38gp/11g/39a/50pts,-5, 42 PIM, on the 14th-place 67's.
Misa is in the midst of a slump that may coincide with the return of Angus MacDonnell to the lineup. He gets all zeroes, 6 shots, and goes 9/13 in faceoffs. In the last 5 games, Misa has only 4 points- while MacDonnell has 7 points in that span. It seems to me that there's some experimentation going on with the lines, at the very least. Misa is 10th in OHL scoring, with 37gp/21g/31a/52pts,+19, 2 PIM, and 16th in plus/minus.
I have hopes that the trade that brought Hunter Laing to Saskatoon will benefit him by giving him more ice-time and responsibility, but the Blades are an excellent team in their own right (they are tied with the Hitmen and the Tigers for 5th-overall). Tonight, he gets all zeroes, and ties for the highest amount of faceoffs taken on the team, going 6/13. Is he being tried at center? 37gp/10g/12a/22pts,+7, 26 PIM.
Hurtig is named third star in a 5-1 win over Moose Jaw, with 1g and a +1. 29gp/3g/5a/8pts,+23, 18 PIM, tied for 11th overall in plus/minus.
The Vancouver Giants had the 3rd-best team in the WHL, the Prince George Cougars, on the ropes by a score of 5-4, but Terik Parascak ties it at 18:17 of the 3rd, and newly-aquired Ben Riche scores the winner for the Cougs exactly a minute later. Lipinski gets 1g, -2, and goes 18/29 in faceoffs. 30gp/7g/21a/28pts,+3, 22 PIM. He has 13 points in the last 8 games.

No points, and +2 for Parekh in a 7-2 loss to Niagara. He's still 4th in scoring by D (by 9 points), with 33gp/12g/31a/43pts,+15, 47 PIM.
Battaglia gets 1a, and was +1 in a 4-1 win over North Bay. He is tied for 17th in OHL scoring, with 37gp/22g/26a/48pts,+1, 20 PIM.
Morin gets no points, but was +2 in a 4-2 victory over Gatineau. He is 2nd in scoring by D in the Q (and tied for 6th-overall in plus/minus), with 35gp/10g/28a/38pts,+23, 20 PIM.

A +2 in a 7-2 loss tells me Parekh is starting to establish his defensive prowess which will be a huge step for him in his overall game, can’t wait for next years camp, it’s gonna be ridiculous how many players that are truly worth getting excited for and that’s before we add this years crop. Good times to be a Flames fan both now and for the future IMO.

Also wanted to mention the amount of faceoffs Lipinski seems to be taking most nights and his corresponding percentage is very encouraging after a bumpy start. He’s starting to find his scoring touch as well which is great to see!

Just to add to your posts:
-Parekh is tied for 30th-overall in the OHL for plus/minus, 13th amongst defensemen, and 3rd-overall on the Saginaw Spirit. Impressive, when considering that the Spirit are 11th out of 20 teams in the OHL, and have given up the 7th-most goals-against in the league.
-Lipinski was considered one of the best faceoff guys in the WHL last season, with a 57.4% in 1546 attempts (2nd-most). This year, he's at the exact same mark, 57.4% in 632 attempts (17th-most). I guess he's consistent.

Mews has hinted he might go to the NCAA next season. The 67s maximizing their asset.

Sudbury has never won an OHL championship. Probably see this as their chance.
