Singh was given the 2nd most prominent job on the network, without cutting his teeth like so many others broadcasters do for years or decades to get.
Similarly, because of that lack of experience it would make more sense for him to do a regional broadcast (still a highly sought after role in this country, again, guys toil for years in obscurity to get anywhere near a top job Iike that), not just 1 game a week to gain comfort with the speed and managing stats with proper game calling.
Problem was, there were no chairs open in Canada for SNet regional broadcasts, or have any opened up since Singh started, except Oilers one, it became available but they got Monster truck in there right away.
So giving Singh a regional job now is a bit of a step back for him if it means losing the national gig. It is also means he's learning on the job in Calgary...we suffered through that enough with Kerr.
Again, another push for Mark Lee, though I think he's slowing down his schedule.
But there are many qualified guys calling minor league games. The guy that Ottawa has for SNet is very good and he came out of the minors.
Hrudey probably has a contract and lives here...at best his flying to Toronto weekly and then for 2 months for the playoffs would be the first thing he'd (or SNet would) cut back.
Millen/with Hurdey the fill in for color and bring in a new name from somewhere, with years of hockey experience, as PBP. You wonder if a guy like Randorf, who went to Tampa, would want to come back to work a Canadian market? Didn't like his Vancouver bias, but it'd be gone.
