So no- they're not starting him because of injury to Francouz.

Wolf with 29/30 saves tonight against the best AHL team, the only goal he let in was with 1 minute left in the game

Elite goalies play well into their mid-late 30s all the time, just like defensemen.

It’s the result of spending your entire career with the game unfolding in front of you. Forwards don’t get that.
I mentioned Fleury the other day. Put on the expansion draft in favor of the young flavour of the month Matt Murray, proceeds to go to the finals and then two years after that wins the Vezina. Meanwhile Murray proceeded to lose his net to Jarry in Pittsburgh, Forsberg in Ottawa and Samsonov in Toronto.

He's with the team because Francouz is hurt. Backups also don't only play during a back to back.

I know what you're getting at and this isn't comparable to Wolf's situation. This isn't just Colorado calling him up to see what they have.

Pff, Markstrom has been letting a goal with 1 minute left in the game and with minute 1 into the game.

Food for thought.
He also lost 7-5.

When Vladar signed his extension it looked like they had plans for Wolf to play one more AHL season but given how Markstrom and Vladar have played this season I would expect that those plans have changed as I would be pretty surprised of one of Vladar or Markstrom isn't moved this summer. I don't think the Flames can afford to go another season with this tandem simply crossing their fingers that they will both be better.

Even if they don’t make a move, I’d be shocked if Wolf didn’t win a spot in training camp and force their hand.

Flames have the worst save % in the league since the all star break at 0.872.
Why did we refuse to give Wolf a chance.
Bunch of garbage excuses likes he young, confidence and what not.
Truth is with average goaltending we easily make the playoffs.
There is no way Wolf (2.10 gaa and 0.932 save%) is any worse that our current tandem.
Management missed the boat on a season we were all in on with our aging roster.

Wolf is going to help the Wranglers win a Calder Cup. He's where he should be for this season.

I know he's inexperienced and blah blah, but if they took the risk on this legendary blue chip prospect post-ASB, the team isn't looking down the barrel on their season right now.

You make exceptions for exceptional cases.

He’s not going to be ruined if they bring him up for a game or two.

Give him a shot

I'm not even kidding when I say we could really use him tomorrow.

I have no trust in Markstrom with how he's looked in the last 4 periods. I don't think he trusts himself either.

Too bad the last thing this organization does is take risks when there is potential reward.

But where has playing it safe got them?

We have Markstrom for three more years at six million a year. Nobody is taking that contract off our hands.

Roy played 0 seasons in the AHL. Brodeur played one.

They weren’t ruined by that.

IMO the team either has to buyout Sutter or Markstrom in a year's time.

I hope the goalie tandem next season is Marky-Wolf, with Dustin progressively taking over the crease as the year goes on.

I like Vladar, but you have to make room for your best talent.

Jake Markstom.

Sub 0.900 in the clutch. Again.

Good stuff Jake. Keep it up.

Literally. Up. Keep the save percentage up. Higher. Try and at least hit bang average.
