Probably been mentioned but the away unis looks so clean.and sharp.

Finally, after this many years, not trying to force black trim or name/number outlines on the jersey or pants does wonders for the look.

Defense has been outstanding.

More and more though, Maier is showing he isnt the guy.

A nice win, but the Redblacks are not exactly top-tier competition. Stamps continue to be a work in progress.

Another riveting CFL game with zero passing TDs

This league is almost unwatchable most games

A win is a win but that was a terrible game.

CFL has some work to do.

This could be a low point for quality QBs in my lifetime.

Remember when the CFL that stable of like 5 QB's that weren't starters but could be picked up by any team at any time and be a legit starter? Do we still have that? Is there not any QB's anywhere in North America that the Stamps could just bring on and be significantly better than Maier?

Worse than when the owners son was a starting QB, and probably wasn’t in the bottom three starters in the league?

Umm, that wasn't a low point for the league, that was a low point for Stampeders ownership.

Yeah that was not a good showcase for the CFL at the QB position. It's clear Maier is severely arm-limited and I find myself holding my breath everytime he does attempt an intermediate pass. Arbuckle is backup material at best. I don't see the Stampeders contending in the West this season with Maier as the offense is simply too limited by his inability to throw the ball down the field.

All the big plays came from run and catch and missed all his deep throws. The only catch made was on a iffy PI call and who knows what happens if the DB doesn't dive.

This is the first time I can remember us having a weak armed QB in a long time.

Maybe Drew Tate but he was like a buffer from Burris to Mitchell.

Yeah, its been sliding like that for a while. Increased competition for QB's, scouting just not finding the diamond in the rough. Lack of patience in development.

The CFL and especially the Stamps used to be a QB factory.

When the best QB's are in their mid and late 30's its an area of serious concern.

The new US leagues probably haven't helped as I'm sure there's a few QB's down there that may have been on CFL rosters today.

I always had a soft spot in my heart for Kevin Feterik (sp?). When I watched him play I never doubted his desire to win. And that he put his heart into being the Stamps QB, and the poor guy took a massive beating in the way he played. But in the CFL you can't really have a noodle armed QB as you lose 3/4 of your throw options on every play.

Some other QB's I had some affection for.

"Hollywood" Rick Johnson - Had a cannon for an arm. Like it was god like. But had no QB IQ "Johnson reads the defense ... takes the snap, steps back, checks his hair, throws . .. . Interception"
Mike McCoy - Got 5 starts. A QB that was afraid to throw the ball.
Drew Tate - Just a noodle arm, and a complete onfield ahold.

Scott Milanovich - Threw I think 6 picks in a game. Years later admitted he was drunk off his a$$ during the game.
Rick Worman - The ultimate accountant looking QB. Slow, poor arm, pretty good football IQ. But so boring.
Erik Kramer - People forget that he started a handful of games for the Stamps. Actually looked decent but prone to really bad picks. The rare better in the NFL then CFL QB and carved out a decent career, including being the rare Detroit QB with a winning record. And had a season as the Bears starter. Why am I sympathetic for him. Because his post career track was tragic and near tragic. Tried to kill himself and suffered from severe post concussion syndrome.

Marcus Crandall - I hated him as a QB. One of the rare times that I left a game in disgust after watching him play. "Lead" the stamps to a Grey Cup, but that was more Joe Fleming going into monster mode and killing guys.
Mike Sousa - I think he got a start, but that's about it. But I thought he had potential. He was great on his feet. He gained fame playing in the Italian League, and John Grisham attended a game and wrote Playing for Pizza, The main character Rick Dockery was based around Sousa and other QB's in that league.

The low Canadian dollar, doesn't help, the other leagues popping up doesn't help as well. And college QB's that are playing more rigid systems that doesn't translate to the CFL doesn't help. As well because of the QB vacuum in the CFL, there's less patience for development in the league.

There are two kinds of QB's that have historically had success in the CFL: (i) run/pass guys who can beat you through the air and on the ground, and (ii) accurate pocket passers who can stretch the field with the arm.

The guys in category one are now finding opportunities in the NFL, meaning we have some athletic guys but they aren't great passers. The guys in category two are harder to find now because colleges are all running variations of the spread and don't have to beat you downfield.

During my lifetime it's been:

Ham
Dunigan
Allen
Flutie
McManus
Garcia
Calvillo
Burris
Ray
Glenn
Mitchell
Reilly
Collaros
?

Our best talent in the past several years (Rourke) just left for the NFL. Adams Jr, Harris, Masoli, Fajardo etc are tier 2 at best. They're hyping up Chad Kelly and I hope he does well but I'm not holding my breath.
