Not sure about the winner part since he hasn't won everywhere, but he's been a student at every level and has steadily progressed himself confidently and taken initiative (I.e. the parts about pushing himself to cultivate leadership by presenting and filling in the gaps he felt he had)
In practice we'll see how it goes, but from afar he appears to have all the right qualities and ideas.

Flames had lots of guys demand trades in the early 90s.
The whole "guys back then loved the game more" thing is Rhett looking back at it with rose coloured glasses.

Boomer tap dancing to avoid the bullets was amusing in that awkward sort of way.

Loved that interview and listening to all the media over the past few days. I think listening to Conroy and Huska I have more acceptance and understanding why Love was not the guy they chose and going with Huska makes sense.
I am pleased the Flames were able to confidently hire the 2 individuals who have been grinding and working their way up for the last 9-12 years within the organization.

They both embody the question of, "Do you want to be a Calgary Flame?", which doesn't just apply to players.

It's because he knew Pinder was right.
If he thought Pinder was wrong / being a jerk he would have sided with Rhett...but he was avoiding it as to not try to piss Rhett off further.

It is a bit odd how they almost always seem to team up on Pinder, but I kind of get it, sometimes Pinder is "a bit much"

Most of the time though, I'd say Pinder is right on the mark, and I think Boomer knows that too. It's just part of their dynamics of not giving Pinder the satisfaction of knowing he's right.

It's always been their routine. Pinder plays the antagonist who makes forceful, contrary points in "a bit much" fashion to keep things moving.
The problem is, sometimes Rhett forgets that it's a routine and gets personal about it, like in that segment the other day, and switches from arguing with the "Pinder Position" for the sake of the bit, and actually getting mad at Ryan Pinder.
Sometimes Boomer can manage Rhett when he's in that state. The other day it seemed like he just didn't have it in him.

Pinder realizes this sparring is all just part of the job in entertainment media. For Rhett, this gig isn’t a profession - it’s shooting the #### with a couple other guys. So he takes it more personally.

I notice that too. Both Pinder and Boomer totally play it up for entertainment. For Rhett, he sometimes forgets that. I don't doubt off air, they're all pretty good buddies. He gets mad at Pinder like how I would talking to a buddy at a pub arguing over sports takes.

I think too the idea of Pinder playing that roll on and show, Rhett it not being a job, and Rhett have preconceived notions of someone like Ryan (and a lot of this board) having grown up in the city looking down on rural or small-town folks, and you've got yourself a stew going.

I love the fact that Pinder is such a manchild. Guy still goes out partying and takes crazy boys trips like he's 25.

He gets away with it because he married an Aussie.

Pinder has the hardest job out of the three. His role is scripted to a large degree and the one the puts in time getting facts and stats together, and makes the most effort come up with talking points and keep conversation going. I think sometimes that means needing to take a stance on stuff even if it is just playing devil's advocate. It would be a pretty boring show if everyone just sat there and agreed.
Boomer is the typical radio guy who makes smart ass comments and takes care of "radio" business, but also adds interesting discussion.
Rhett is there to react and give perspective, which he does well. Rhett is hilarious and I can see why he was such a popular guy among his peers. You could probably make a reality sitcom around him. The "I can't do anymore stupid today" story he went off on a few weeks ago made me laugh pretty good.

Rhetro dropped a lot of f bombs. I think he's still pissed Sutter took all the blame for the team's performance this year.

One of those instances where people are offering different explanations for a fiasco, but they’re probably all a bit right.
* A bunch of UFAs coming up a year before the cap is set to increase substantially is bad timing.
* Edwards pushing the GM to always remain in Win Now mode has hurt the franchise.
* Edwards does not cultivate a happy or positive culture in the organization.
* The room is broken and the players are not playing for each other.
