How many more times are people going to talk about this gambling license without some actual data or research on it? It’s just not that lucrative and they seem far more focused on an arena development which I suppose could be gigantic money if done right.

I don't know why it's that surprising a CFL team would be a decent space for a hockey team. Even at ~60 stalls for a football team you are really only looking at ~$10k-$20k there well within the CFLs budget (they do have a $6M salary cap), the carpet appears to be temporary and when you put a team 2.5x smaller into the room it's going to be spacious.

No business is lucrative in the startup phase. The fact that this operation was breaking even within a year is actually a positive sign.
Look, the point about the gambling licence is that Meruelo loses it if he doesn't ice a hockey team in Arizona. It's an extra cost of exiting the business if he chooses to do so. You can be quite certain he regards it as an asset, and one with a significant potential cashflow. And it's an asset the Flames' owners do not have.
Nor, to your other point, do the Flames' owners have the potential to make bank from development in Victoria Park, under any actual or prospective deal I've heard about.

What does the bolded have to do with the Coyotes? Meruelo has huge development plans for the Tempe arena deal. That's a far bigger draw than this gambling license.

How does Mullet compare to the the Langley Events Center (Vancouver Giants) and the Tribute Communities Centre (Oshawa Generals), for people who have been to either of those plus Mullet? I have been to the first two and they are both pretty nice smaller arenas with about the same capacity as Mullet. Just going by photos of Mullet, it doesn't look as nice as the other two, although I know photos can be deceiving.
Edit: Never mind. I just realized that Mullett literally just opened this month.
