I think it is as simple as the fact that Kelly Hrudey grew up an Oilers fan. He has spoken about it numerous times in the past, and his affection continues to shine through—lest anyone forget, it was Hrudey who made the infamous "300 goals!" prediction in 2006–07, followed by an emphatic proclamation, "I LOVE this team!"
