Are the English any more degenerate gamblers than Americans? Americans have just had it illegal forever, but you are inundated with gambling stuff now in every sportscast since most states have legalized books. I even see in NFL games now they are posting the half game O/U and ML on the halftime shows of games.

I dont think Gambling in and of itself is 'Degenerate.'
'Problem Gambling' is a lot like indulging in excess to any other vice. I'll throw the occasional bet on stuff, its not my 'vice of choice' per se, but a few bucks here and there? Why not? Its like buying a Lottery Ticket.
That being said, I'm a terrible Gambler. I always bet with my heart rather than my head.
